Any idea what this noise could be?

Long story short, truck is making a new noise ever since I had the transmission pan replaced but I don't think its the trans.
Happens whether I am moving or in park. Whenever I rev, I get this whine (see video). Im not having any shifting issues...at least not yet.

Im wondering if this noise could be a transmission related one, engine or the fan.

I had a local mechanic do the trans pan and I feel like I was ripped off but needed my truck asap so just paid it. Now my paranoid ass is thinking they did a shoddy job and messed something up. But the fact im not having any issues with the trans while driving is making me think its something else.

Just hoping somebody out there has experienced this noise before.

If I was to guess, I would say it’s your fan bracket or idler pulley

I don't hear it in the second video. Sounds like my 99 Gen 1...
Good luck, I have a rattle right now that is driving me crazy and I think another wheel bearing going out. The fun of driving a 25 year old truck.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
It does sound like its from the front of the motor. Take a long srewdriver and put it on suspected places and put your ear against the end of the handle; that will help narrow it down. Also, a mechanic's stethoscope is useful if that doesn't work.

Does it change when you turn the steering wheel. Maybe power steering pump related?

Either Water pump, AC or Alternator bearings. Spray a little WD40 on the suspected parts and see if it quiets down. It's not a cure, but it will tell ya if they are the culprits.

Cut a two liter soda bottle in half... and then stick a screw driver in the mouth of the bottle. It will act a megaphone amplifying the the sound.
