That hitch, kinda defeats the purpose of the approach and departure angle no?

Thats what I though too about the Hokie road bumper. Hows it been working for you? Have you had any issues with the coating, or fitment? Did it require any cutting or modifications during the installation? Thanks!

i like it. Ive had it for 5 months. No issues with the coating that ive noticed. It did not require any modding, but fitment was very tight. I had a mechanically inclined friend put it on. It required some pry tools and a 2x4 to help line up all the bolts with the bolt holes. The ease of fitment seems to be hit or miss in the reviews. Mine was a bit fussy going on. Its definitely tough and an upgrade from stock. It would take a minor rear end collision well. The led plate light is nice. Its plug n play. The shackle rings on it are only aesthetic from what i have read, so dont use them for recovery. The gaps are clean and even. Tailgate opens nicely and clears the bumper, with nice tight gaps. Overall im happy with it.

Something to ignore because it’s not a high clearance with integrated hitch and no side hoops?

The obvious difference between the two bumpers is the license plate mount area. To me, both of them look better compared to the stock bumper, no matter what. The main things that I want to focus on are the looks, design and durability. I assume the weights differences probably almost the same. Im interest to know what others here and share their thoughts about these two rear bumpers.

I had to powder coat mine. It was awful, however I live in northern Michigan and the snow and salt are just as awful...the shackles were cheap as well. I took mine off as they rusted and were a bitch to get the screw pin out

Thank for your reply! I prefer the pod lights to be mounted as shown below (it looks cleaner) rather than flush, but I understand why other aftermarket rear bumpers use flush-mounted lights - maybe because it's a universal approach. allowing any types of pod lights to be mounted as long as it fit.

Looks great too me,for 1/3 of the cost of the expensive ones that don't do offer anything more in value.

Which step design do you guys prefer - Hooke Road’s deeper one or Body Armor’s sleeker look?

I have a Hooke Rd on the front. The paint on it sucks- the plastic trim below the headlights has rubbed on the bumper and worn off the paint at the contact area, and of course it's rusting. Obviously, this is my fault, I should've increased the gap to account for trim movement when driving, but these really should be powder coated for durability if the paint can't stand up to plastic trim. I mean, how much extra could it cost to powder coat it when it's bare metal? $40? Or at least offer PC as an option. Or a bare metal option to PC locally.

Body Armor has really thick plare steel and a tough finish.
    Gets my vote.

The tow mounts should protect the lights on both bumpers.
