I'm in the process of buying my first Tacoma and would like to have the factory lift installed. The dealer is willing to put it in but I'm wondering why it is listed as not compatible in the double cab long bed. The service department and all the folks at dealership don't have any idea why it is listed that way. Anyone here have any idea why it wouldn't work on the double cab long bed? Thanks

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Most likely because the OEM lift kit is not designed for the longer wheelbase of the DCLB.

Because only grandpa's and work trucks have long beds and they don't need to be lifted :p.

My truck isn't a work truck, so I feel like I should be offended by what you are implying! Lol:anonymous:

Save your money and put your own lift on for a hell of a lot cheaper than the overpriced Toyota lift.

I installed the shocks on my 2020 DCLB OR and it works great. Gave me exactly 2” lift in the front and I did the 3 leaf icon AAL for the rear which gave me 1.5”.

Very pleased for the $500 or so I spent.

I was on the road yesterday and ran into a double cab long bed that had loaded ladder racks. Reminded me of one of a miniature version of these full size super cab trucks with a long bed. I guess it was a companies work truck. I think toyota targeted this truck more for service than pleasure.

The main reason why I got a DCLB is:
    1) I had one child and one on the way so I needed the four doors
    2) I had a short bed truck for 10 years prior to that and absolutely hated the 5 foot bed. I had so many problems putting things in the back and continued to wish for at least one more foot. Yes you can add a bed extender, but it really isn't the same.
    3) I agree, yes it is long and parking the thing in parking lots can be a pain but I learned to back into parking spaces and got good at it.
    4) It came with all of the trim that I needed at the time of purchase. I really do wish that they did make a 2nd gen DCLB TRD off road version like they do now in the 3rd gens and not just the sport, mainly for the OEM lockers and better gearing, but I can add those things in myself like I did with my suspension.
    5) Every time I went wheeling, there really wasn't one place that a DCSB could go where I couldn't. You just need to be more creative sometimes.
    6) Personally, I LOVE the "Trail limo" look and I can carry more stuff then a DCSB can when I go out on a 3 day wheeling trip.

Personally a 5' bed is useless to me. I still have a had time getting use to seeing a double cab tacoma, yet thats what mostly consumers buy these days.

Ever notice, how the five footer's always mention an extender as if, one can't be added to the six foot bed...

Cuz the DCLB is a unicorn every time you go to look for one. Next one my dealer had scheduled for delivery was 8 months out when I was in the market for a new one.

I friggin' lucked out last November. 2021 TRD OR DCLB on the lot with everything I wanted on it, cement grey, sans LED headlights. Almost nobody in my market wants a 6' bed (metro city). I essentially purchased it sight unseen, they're that rare here. Also before the pricing became insane. Nabbed it the same day the dealer listed it online.

Now they offer to buy it back from me, above what I paid for it. Nope.

long bed is a misnomer on Tacomas. Tacomas have a standard bed and a short bed. No 8’ bed haha. So he’s allowed to lift it according to your rule I guess…

Short beds are for owners that should have gotten a 4Runner.

Might as well just get a Subaru Baja if you like short beds and don’t need a real truck.

    Check build thread!
Oh, well if we're gonna get all elitist about length of beds, the ACLB is the only real truck toyota makes, because real trucks don't haul kids in the back to school ;)
