You're right. I had both hoods for two years each but what the fuck do I know, right?

I guess simple geometry ain't so simple for some... is it?

There's three points that matter: The sun, the angle of reflection & your eyes. If you modify the hood angle then it affects how the light reflects because it's all perspective based. If your reflective surface moves then you still get glare it's just that the sun or your head has to be at a different angle. So a flat hood means you get more glare when the sun is lower on the horizon. With a scooped hood you don't get glare when the sun is low on the horizon. A flat hood doesn't magically make your hood glare proof. I get no more glare with a scooped hood than I did with a flat hood with all other things being equal (same truck). I just get glare at different times of the day. At best these people with scooped hoods are driving more at mid-day than they are at early or late day. Blanket statements that scooped hoods get more glare just don't check out mathematically. Even then it's not worth changing your hood out for.

It's classic 'grass is greener' mentality.

Laughable...Irony. You know how bug eye mirrors work don't you? Convex surfaces? Presenting a reflectable surface to a MUCH WIDER angle??? When that curved, CONVEX, surface is facing the observer, can see a MUCH WIDER field of view, and hence, more possible sun positions that can reflect back?

    Whatever, you don't understand it.

It's not a grass is greener mentality if you like the grass you're standing on.

When I test drove sports, I was suprised at how much the scoop diminishes visibility to the front passneger corner.

So anyone who says it is nonfunctional is full of shit. It not only diminishes you field of vision, but also tries to sear your eyeballs out of your skull.

BTW, there is one other special use for it. But damn, I can't find it. @jberry813, where is that special pic of your hood scoop...you know that one I'm talking about.

I like the looks of the scoop. The glare happens sometimes, I just dont stare at it and its fine for me.

Just ordered one of these for my 2011. Once it arrives I'm taking it to my tint guy to add along with a clear UV block film for the inside of the windshield. My eyes aren't what they used to be and even if it helps a little I consider it a win.

Here's my idea for you to reduce glare:

Buy a pair of quality polarized sunglasses (Oakley, Ray-Ban etc.)

Put on said sunglasses you just purchased

Go for a ride and enjoy.

Unfortunately, yes. It used to be painful, but apparently I still get to rake leaves in the fall because football is hard to watch.

My nephew is a devout Brownie! He spends a week each year at spring training, then lives and dies with each game. He takes a LOT of verbal abuse from the rest of the family.
