    Hey all!

2017 TRD Pro owner here and while I was cleaning my truck today I noticed I must have ran over something that looks like sap or epoxy and it splattered all on my TRD skid.

I’ve tried everything I can think of to remove it safely without messing up the powder coated aluminum.

Any ideas on how I can remove it?
It’s hard to the touch, I can’t even “scrape” it off with my nail.

I’ve tried a little bit of heat from a heat gun. Didn’t warm it up too much because the part is powder coated.
    Rubbing Alcohol
    Goo Gone
    Hand Sanitizer

    Nothing works!

Thank you very much in advance for any help you could give me.

*yes I know it’s a skid plate and meant to get scratched up.
I’m just annoyed that I already messed it up without doing anything fun ;). My truck only has 3k miles.

Thanks for the tip. Is that paint safe? The powder coated skid should be tougher than paint.

Try WD-40. Great at removing wax and sap without removing paint.

It's completely shot and it's probably best to just sell it to me for around $150 or so...you know, since it's damaged goods anyway :)

Honestly, I think you could probably get away with wet sanding those areas with a few different grit levels (ex. 800 -> 1000 -> 1500 -> and up) and then maybe use some Finesse-It. With powder coat being harder than paint and since you are just removing something ON the powder coat and not a flaw in the coating itself, you probably won't need a polisher/finisher afterwards though anyway.

I've never tried doing this myself but I thought I'd throw that out there since nothing else seems to be working. :notsure:

I've used gasoline to remove shtuff... Great for puffing too! Relatively same concept as the acetone

Brake cleaner also works well for scuffs and paint transfer marks

What is the blue and pink crap around the mounting bolt? I’d be more annoyed with that than the brown junk.

It's from the factory. Double-checks on torque/tightness. My lug nuts still have it after 2800 miles and 4 months....

I figured I’d just never seen it on a skid before or didn’t recall.
