Hey people.. looking to see if anyone out there can give me an idea of what this is for? I bought my truck used and it has this plug on the truck bed which seems to be aftermarket.

any ideas on what it is for? it has 2 - 5amp fuses on it.

I'll bet the truck used to have a shell on it. Looks like 3rd brake light and a light in the shell. Does one of them tap into to the brake lights?

I have the exact same thing on mine. A camper shell would make sense

aaahh, that does make more sense. . . and the fact that it's a four prong, not the 3 kind that's on trailers.

ok... cool, thanks for all your replies... that makes sense, wonder if this can be used to put some leds on the bed? I'll see where it is plugged in, if it's the brake lights then it probably wont work for bed lights and it would definately mean it was 3rd brake light type of deal. I don't see any markings on the bed that would indicate a shell was on top though.

Get yourself a circuit tester or just rig up a bulb and wire and start testing it to see what happens when you turn on lights, hit your brakes, etc.
