All I can find online are the WeatherTech mats. I'm really curious what the OEM (I assume carpet?) manual transmission floor mats look like? I bought some cheapo mats from AutoZone but they always get stuck under the clutch pedal. I found some used mats on eBay/Offerup but they don't know what truck they came from. Really any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

do you have the little safety retainer clip cut for those mats you were trying? to keep them from sliding forward
    '97 tan oak floormat.jpg
they were out of blue grey, not sure why
and these are not OEM quality like i had originally with the heavy duty backing behind them

No the truck doesn't have the clips nor do the new mats have holes.
They look pretty good. Better then the ones I have now! Where did you pick these up?

Are you wondering if the clip is a new addition?

I was wondering about "these are not OEM quality like i had originally with the heavy duty backing behind them" and I think I have the same ones ;)

These shipped with a new clip for the driver side but I just left mine. I think they were added around 2000 due to a lawsuit where they held down the gas pedal but not certain that is fully accurate. I think the lawsuit is why they only sell ones with holes now.

original mat had the clip, i don't know if the clips are separate items from the mats or not :notsure:

this is what i meant by not OEM quality, the left one is my original so that my clutch foot only went so far before it hit the heavy duty rubber backing

the new one i bought weighs much less than the original because its lacking the heavy rubber spot

even the side stitching is kinda funky

Yep my 'OEM' ones are thinner too thanks. I guess it is cool they still sell the close to original mats.

perhaps the newer 1st gens 01-04 had different type of mats equipped when the trucks were new or some other place was making them way back then?

Huh interesting. I have a 99 without any clips. I'll have to look around the used market and see what I ca find. Glad I know the shape now.

I could be wrong but I think I recall the clip that ships with the new mats has a large diameter wood screw type thread that is designed to dig into the carpet as a safety retrofit if you don't have one. I don't have the new clips that shipped to verify that though.

No idea. My only thought is the truck didn't come with floor mats or the floor mats it came with didn't have the clip. Either way adding a clip is pretty straight forward when I find the proper mats.

My truck had one of those originally for holding my mats down.
It did somehow come loose and was lost.

You don’t really need it but it does hold the mat in place.

The hook does come with some of the carpet insert mats.

The hold down clip ring is actually in the carpet for the carpet hook

Wow I for sure don't have that piece. Looks pretty delicate, I bet a lot of people don't have this piece any more.
