    Strange. I've ordered from them and never had to pay an import fee. Is it just the larger orders over $1000?

    That's what I'm wondering, and also a little bothered because had they been up front about that, I would have just made separate orders. Oh well, it'll work out. Just might be a few extra days till I have them lol, hopefully that won't be too bad of a thing considering what you know happened the other day haha.

    I found out it's only on orders over $800. So most people won't be affected by if you did order over $800 I guess at least you are still having at least $50 after the fee. Sorry, I was not aware of this.

    Doesn’t affect me but the shipper should have broke down the packages for those that purchased multiple cameras. Nothing on you but they didn’t seem to handle this sale the way it should have. I’ll get a good product because of your reviews. Hope it’s a learning lesson.

    Not your fault at all man and still doesn't negate the fact I am appreciative of your legwork on putting th deal together. The site lists their prices in USD, and I looked through their policies. No reason that isn't made clear on there. Not to mention the fact that they didn't ship the order for about 6 days after I paid. That's plenty of time to notify me of the 'going to be' charges, and give me the option to break it up into two orders. I have no problem with them not shipping immediately, but the fact that they sat on the deal and didn't do anything about letting me know about some COD charges really bugs me. I' jist going to re order the stuff in separate orders and I don't think I'll be home to sign for that first shipment. I'll dispute with my credit card on the original charges and get them removed.

    That’s pretty shitty.

    I’m lucky as my one camera will be a simple order, but it’s frustrsting how this has played out. Long shipping times for everyone, and extra fees for some.

    Probably not a company I’d do business with again.

    It's a good thing you are healthy and safe. I deal with a lot of bad drivers in DC area who will cut into your lane if you give them any space. So many people have never heard of using the turn signals.

    Keep us updated on the Prius.

    Are you able to just cancel and do separate orders? Because a charge back can also hurt them too so if you could settle things without doing a charge back that would help they overall situation. I understand your frustrations because I didn't know about there import duties either but at the same time it's not blackboxmycar''s fees or rules it's our government that does it. I don't think they expected people to make such large $1200 orders either. I would like this to have potential for future group buys again but if they experience charge backs because of import duties they might be less inclined to do it again.

    I hope we can make this work for all parties. They have never done a group buy like this where all items are 10% off including accessories so they were doing this in good faith.

    Yeah I totally agree with what you're saying. I have reached out to them, and the fellow I spoke with couldn't really help me much. He said that the manager that handled the group I would get in touch with me on Monday. If he can make it right I'm going to order another F800 Pro. But if you can't I'm going to be a little upset just because like I mentioned, after sitting on my order for 6 days and not letting me know about this situation, I feel like the whole thing could have been avoided.

    According to this article, the US raised the duty free mail order limit to $800 in 2016. This is possibly why UPS (or whatever carrier) is telling you there is a charge, although I don't know if dash cams even incur an actual duty charge going into USA. It could simply be a brokerage charge due to the order being over $800.

    1. Vendor should accept the return and refund all monies; then,
    2. Buyer should reorder all items in smaller dollar amount to stay below $800 threshold.
    3. Vendor needs to update their checkout system so when a non-Canadian address is recognized, that all additional fees are tack on to the cart with note for buyer as to why the new line item.
    Lesson would be learned for all parties involved going forward

    Blackboxmycar still could have done their part by separating your order so each order totaled less than 800.00. Think about it, the total group buy is in excess of 7000.00. My total was 400.00, they definitely could have done something to avoid the import fee on you.

    This is exactly what I'm thinking. I mean come on, it's not like they shipped everything out that day or the following day like their site says they do. Six days is AMPLE time to let me know and have the opportunity to chane the order to two separate orders. It almost seems like "we appreciate the business and large order, now screw off" lol.

    I doubt they did this maliciously, they just did not think about it. If I need 3 BlackVues next time, I will order one every other day.

    No I didn't mean that. I do not believe they did it maliciously. I think what they did was have a lack of concern for their customer support. If you need three, just make separate orders back-to-back-to-back. Separate orders will have to ship separately. Same situation because if you have different order numbers then they cannot claim that value all on one single shipment.

    If you already have a ups quantum view tracking email, go to the bottom of the tracking info and it should say something about it. If your order was $799.99 or less, apparently you don't have anything to worry about.

    Well, mine was $1200. I got the tracking notice from UPS and did not see any mention of import fees. I guess I'll see.
