Any interest in a dash cam group buy?

Yeah it shows I owe $28.75 for some kinda fees. It was a second email from UPS that stated my charges needed to be paid up to 30 minutes prior to actual delivery. Be on the look out for that email.

 

Ok, so they won't deliver without these fees being paid? Good, there will be no delivery, I guess.

 

Correct. I found out everything blackboxmycar ships, they ship as "signature required" for delivery. The UPS guy will show up to your door and ask for $XX for fees before he will hand you the package.

 

For the record my original post since I added the blackboxmycar one has always said they were a Canadian retailer but that they offer free shipping to the US (although apparently not Hawaii but that's not surprising) I just had no clue about the import fee either. If you have an import fee I am sure something can be worked out if you talk to them.

 

No worries man, that's not your fault. I was referring to lack of prominent info on their website.

Anyway, so far my UPS tracking info does not mention any fees, so maybe I am in luck. If there are I'll contact the vendor to chat about the issue with them. My suggestion to them will be that they should note orders are shipped from Canada and orders above $800 can be subject to import fees.

 

I received another email from BlackBox asking for a review on my recent dash cam, which I have not received yet!?! It's a little unnerving, they know the item is en route.

 

Might be an automated message sent when items ship?

 

I'm sure it is but I would make sure a review was not sent out before the item was received. This is evidence of a company's lack of attention to detail. Same goes for the review of the 20.00 deposit... how would one review that ?!?

 

That's a good question. I missed the initial order timeline, but then saw it was extended until Friday. Due to some of the stuff going on during this, I may look elsewhere for ordering.

 

This isn't their typical order though, they have never done a group buy like this before. Their website always sends out an automatic request for a review, but since they were holding the orders until the group buy ended the emails got sent out early.

 

There shouldn't be any issues now. The whole delayed shipping was just a misunderstanding about whether or not orders will be shipping out ASAP or as a group. The other issue was just that if you order over $800 you can get that import fee which is something the US gov does not the store.

If you are still interested and plan on ordering over $800 I would expect you can just place two different orders.

 

Its really not a big deal. These things are a 'pet peeve' to me. Same as when I take my truck in for service and they send me a survey the day after I get it back... How do I know if the technician properly serviced/fixed the truck, I've had it back for one day.

 

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've been emailing with a guy named Stuart from there and he said he is going to take care of the situation I had. I got frustrated for no reason. Beat I can tell so far, they are standing behind the deal. Only recommendation I can make it that if you order is going to total over $799.99, then break it up into multiple orders. Other than that, you should be good as it appears all orders have been shipped at this point. I think there was a lot of misunderstanding at the get go like @USDashCamera mentioned due to this being their first group buy. I can understand them wanting to make sure the total commitment of 16 cameras was fulfilled before they started shipping. I personally didn't have a problem waiting for that part, but you should be good to go if you decide you want one. Just order by Friday to be able to get the GB deal.

So I got an email from a one of their reps and he told me to inform people anyone who did get affected by the import fee will receive and additional 6 months warranty, which is a $60 value. I would like to think these cams shouldn't have any issues from my experience but you never know. This does require a serial number though so if you ordered over $800 and got slapped with an import fee, contact them through email or chat and they can work something out.

Glad everyone is getting things worked out, this was something I thought about doing out of the blue and considering I never tried organizing a group buy I am pretty happy with it. Hopefully in the future we can do one again, and this time we will get all the details such and ship date or large orders ironed out from the get go.

Thanks for setting this up, and anyone looking at this thread, have no fear of dealing with blackboxmycar. They were stand up and handled this well. I know I'll be using them again.

 

@USDashCamera. This thing is being a pain in my ass to set up with the phone. NOT saying at all a product issue because I did see it on the phone before I set up the hotspot. Which did not setup on phone easily. I might have missed it but have a video for set up? I’m on an iPhone. Now I’m rambling and close to throwing tools.

 

are you using the f800 pro? cant remember which one you ordered.
