Any interest in a dash cam group buy?

Yup thats what i am dreading installing the rear camrea in my topper did you have to buy an extention? Part of the reason why i bought the pro!

 

I did use an extension, it'll work with any standard micro USB extension tho. I wired it thru the firewall under the passenger seat then used plastic tubing to give it some protection. Ran it down the frame and up thru the tailgate corner. I used some of those adhesive wire clips to keep the cable flush as it came up thru the tailgate. I show some of this in one of the videos in my original post in page 1.

 

Monoprice is a great resource for good quality at cheap prices. I've used their products for years now without any issues. You can get the cable length you need without a doubt. It should be cheap than going to Best Buy or ordering off Amazon.

 

Anyone did any install pictures yet?

 

Looks like I lucked out and my nearly $1.2k order was delivered without any import fees.

 

Wanted to double check that today's the last day to order with the discount, correct?

 

I just checked the site and the code no longer works. I was thinking @USDashCamera mentioned that they said they were leaving it open until friday.

 

That was my understanding that it would be open until Friday, and close end of day. There is a promo code that is comparable to the discount. I might get a two channel, but just get the rear camera at a later date. We'll see, as long as the rear camera can be added later.

 

Yeah kinda stinks, I was going to order a f800 pro set up for the wife's car today... oh well.

 

That's what I was gonna do. If you use the $30 rebate just on the front camera, it's essentially 10% off. Then just add the rear one later.

 

I may do just that!

 

You could just reach out to the vendor and inquire about allowing the additional orders; especially you @1bad2k since you already placed an order.

Well, I can not be home to sign for the delivery from UPS who showed today at 1600 hrs. I called BlackBox and they are doing their best to deal with UPS and remedy the situation. If I don't receive the dash cam by Wednesday I told them to cancel the order.

 

Download UPS my choice app. You can change delivery to a certain time or they drop off at a UPS store then you pick it up at your convenience. I picked my stuff up today from the UPS store. Blackboxmycar has been super great guys to deal with imo.

 

that's what I did...then the UPS store couldn't find it for a few hours (in their defense they had a TON of packages that came in the couple days it sat until I could pick it up).

 

I did download it but I did it while the package was already processed and My Choice can't help with that criteria. The package is at a UPS an hour away and I'm not going out of my way to get it.

Received Vio 119S and Thinkware F800 Pro. Hardwire kits for both. They did not send Samsung 128GB card that I ordered..........opps found it--at bottom of box. All good.

 

Just returned from several thousand multi-state miles on the road, and would like to report back on my new Street Guardian SGGCX2:
* Discount code worked perfectly on SG's website (thank you US Dash Cam, great job!).
* Received complete kit in 4 business days, two days before my trip began.
* Installation was a snap.
* Menu set-up finally "took", after several attempts (MPH embedding would not stay ON initially).
* Emailing SG questions got quick answers, Jon offers top customer service and good technical expertise.
* Photoshop CS6 runs / edits SG's videos seamlessly.
* Looking forward to trying the free / downloadable Dashcam Viewer, to overlay videos on map (??).

Two suggestions to SG:
* Eliminate annoying white LED (indicating camera is ON), it is very blinding at night. The red blinking light (recording) is enough to indicate camera is ON, and red does not destroy night-vision.
* Offer a different lens (or snap-on lens?), expanding horizontal FOV to ~180 degrees, decreasing vertical to ~60 degrees. Don't need to see my entire hood in half the video (plus so much blank sky), and don't care about distortion at edges. I purchased a dash cam for CYA reasons, not asteroid-gazing (although the cloud shots are awesome at sunrise & sunset).

This is my first Dash Cam, I am pleased with the teeny size, build quality, menu options, and 24-month warranty. While license plates on moving cars are not easily readable when playing-back video, "freeze-framing" in Photo Shop renders most close plates crystal clear.

Plan on ordering another SG (this time, the dual camera SG9663DC) for the family vehicle.
