    DRFTR,

Sounds like you are the right person in the right position to help make this happen. Transfer Flow has some very nice products and the knowledge to bring a DOT legal tank to market. A compact 18 or 20 gallon tank that fits up against the front of the bed would sell well to Tacoma owners or anyone that wants extended driving range. A more compact tank could also be mounted in/on trailers for fueling 4 wheelers, motorcycles or snow machines. There would be a lot of interest in this over on the Expo Portal Forum as well.

The ideal Tacoma Transfer Tank would measure approx.:
40” long (to fit between wheel wells)
8” wide (as not to take up to much room in a 5’ bed)
17” deep (to fit below the top of the bed rails for folks with tonneau covers)

So, where do I sign up to get the first one off the assembly line?:woot:

Main 15 gallon tank (you can lock another 15 gallon together for 30 gals) then optional separate 5 gallon tanks that can be locked together and stacked on the main tank(s) Maybe 20 gal main tanks is better.

Is it legal to put a tank in that is integrated into the vehicle? I'd like to just extend my range rather then have to stop and refill.

An auxiliary tank integrated into the OEM gasoline tank could be legal, but it would require going through C.A.R.B testing and that cost minimum is $10K-$15K just in testing fees. Those fees would be transferred down to the customer :(

It has been done. Not to sure about the legality of such a modification. Read thru these threads that I've been following over on Expo Portal.

    Link: http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...for-09-Tacoma?highlight=aftermarket+fuel+tank

    or this one:
    http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...nk-for-tacoma?highlight=aftermarket+fuel+tank

Seems like a a very expensive pain in the ass. Not to say I haven't thought about trying to build/buy a long range fuel tank or fuel cell.

Then I find myself poring fuel from my jerry can(current method of caring additional fuel) into a buddies truck so they can make it back to civilization. Also poring fuel from my jerry cans into my riding mower or into a gas golf cart. So that got me thinking about the Transfer Tank idea. I would like the ability to fuel multiple vehicles from a single source.

    Just my .02 cents.

20 gal main tank that another 20 gal can be added to (one in front of the other) then available 5 gal tanks that can mount on top of the main tank(s) so you would only have to produce two tanks... a 20 gal and 5 gal.
Mount on the bed side rail system and keep at least 10 inches of clearance off the floor and I'm in.

Edit: Hell, just make one 10 gal tank that can link together to keep costs down. Then the customer can add on to their hearts desire (I'll buy three of them - maybe four) Who knows, maybe I'll slip one into the trunk of my wife's Saturn.

I would be interested as some others have said if it were lower profile up against the front of the bed. More form fitting would be best instead of just having a giant rectangular box. Something that may have a shape like so...

20 gallon tank would be perfect for me on long trips but only if it could fit under my tool box. If not I'd do 10 gallon.

Maybe 10 gal "porkchops" that can be mounted vertically or horizontally and hung off the bed rail system along the bed rear wall or the bedsides in front or behind the wheel wells and stacked together.

Yes. I think it would be cool if I could get one to fit under my toolbox as well. It is pretty much dead space now.
