I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
It's not the shocks per say it's the location of the stock mounting location.

So Will, I have been noticing this too. Although the setup is drastically improved handling-wise over the worn-out stock suspension, the ride is harsher now after only 7,000 miles. Really, in retrospect, the 5100s are valved and designed for the stock progressive spring, which is rated at 375 lbs, and the 881s are a 500 lb coil, so it only makes sense that the 5100s would not be up to the task of dampening this much stronger coil. Unfortunately, I learned more information too late...

With regard to the Nitrochargers, did you get the "sport" 90004, or is there another option? On the ARB site, it looks like 90004 is the only option for 1st gens, but at Sierra Expeditions, for example, they have an OME "heavy" kit with N91SC struts paired with 881s...

Also, did you just leave the 5100s on the rear? If not, what did you replace them with?

    getting there....
yeah.......ome used to make "soft" and "firm" nitrochargers....but only have the sports now. im not sure of the heavy ones from sierra........but i figured that those may be needed if you have a bumper and winch and all.

the part numbers for the ome's i got are....

90004....for the front......and 60062...for the rear. and i got them from downsouth motorsports for an awesome price.

Cheers, Will. I looked on DSM earlier and they didn't have any info on their site about OME, although I saw their OME post on TW.

Thanks. I'll be looking into this.

Do the 5100's stiffen up over time when used with the stock coils? Or do they only stiffen up when used with the 881 (or similar) coils?

Also, what about long term experience with Nitrochargers? Do they stiffen up also? How long do they last?

I have had the 5100s for about 10,000 miles with stock coils and I have felt them stiffen up. This might be a combination of the stock suspension stiffening up a tad too, however. I don't think its that big of a deal, but if had actually had a source of income I probably would have gone for coilovers if I were able to do it over.

haven't heard anything bad about the OME setups. 5100's are the cheapest way to get a reliable mild lift w/o destroying suspension components (spacers) but you get what you pay for. That is the biggest thing i've learned over the past 2 years modding this truck haha

Yep if you are on a budget then they are a good option. They have not let me down yet and I can't imagine they will anytime soon
