True. I remember when I lived in LR and came back home to visit. It made it so much sweeter. Just the change of pace and lack of people.

Rendezvous 2018 has been officially announced. My wife and I went to this last year and had a great time. It's the first time she's been off roading and camping with me and actually enjoyed it. They also raffled off some really good items. Unfortunately I'm not sure if we're going to make it this year but I highly recommend it.

I've met a few of those guys out and about, and also on some trails in the Ozarks. They seem like a good bunch of guys, and the pics from the website look like it was a blast. Thanks for the post, should be a good time. Hoping to have my Land Cruiser in the line up this year.

I sure do, and love them. I get compliments on them frequently. What size did you go with? I can't wait to see them on your BPP.

    Yeah.
LOL, I had to look it up. It apparently oils the camshafts on VVT engines. I would think that doing regular oil changes is enough, and if you are still worried, maybe try running some Seafoam through before your next change.

I had to replace one of mine. My CEL and Slip Indicator lights lit up near Kansas City after making a run to IKEA. Didn't think much of it at first, but the next day the truck would barely run and it was throwing something like 8 or 9 codes. I might have been able to just clean it, but figured i'd just replace it. It turned out to be very simple, but I was going to seek local help because I couldn't even find the damned thing at first, ha. Once I found it (thanks to some threads on TW), it was a breeze. I'm at ~162,000 miles on a 2010, for what it's worth.

    Yeah.
Huh, interesting, I haven't heard of these going out. When I looked it up, it said it usually throws codes when it goes bad. Not a very expensive part and sounds easy, so yeah, I would replace. Heck, I would probably do both of them just because I like symmetry.

Got me thinking, not sure about these 10K oil changes on the turd gen. I think I will stick to my 5K schedule. It was tough enough going from 3K on my '92 to 5K.

To be fair, I regularly go 6-7K on my second gen. Unfortunately, my truck can be a testament to just how durable (neglectable?) Tacomas can be at times.

I see you're in Bentonville. I'm in Springdale, but closing on our house in Bella Vista at the end of the month. I imagine your truck is pretty rare, maybe I'll see it around!

    Yeah.
Yes, we moved here from the St Louis area in August of last year. I've seen at least one other blue Pro roaming around the area, but mine now has the CBI rack and CVT tent on it, so it should be pretty easy to spot. I will be working my way up to a full loop of the Back 40 trails up there, hopefully starting soon if it will dry out enough, so you may see me tooling through the woods on my bike as well! What a great area.
