It was chilly, had frozen water and olive oil so was mid upper 20's over night, but we had a helluva fire and stars were fantastic. Amazing campsite right on a bend of the creek with great bluffline that will would fit 4-5 trucks so will have to go back once we figure out the gate situation.

    Yeah.
Those things look like something alien, found one on a cedar tree in my back yard last year, bigger than a baseball. Had to do some research to figure out what it was. Are all those dead trees off of 412 east of Springdale apple trees?

Had a great time this weekend, that camping spot was great. It looks like there are a few more near it, too. Easily fit 5 trucks, with plenty of good spots for anyone with a ground tent as well.

Yup, dead orchards all along the northern quarter of the state, but the invasion of Cedars got them all. Farmers tried peaches, but it's too far north.

I had a front turn marker/daytime running light go kabonk on this weekends run, may do the mod that disables them, or just replace with LEDs. Any suggestions, or anyone do this mod or replace with LEDs? Not so great engineering on Mr. Toyota's part since they run all the time and burn the lens.

LED replacement bulbs can sometimes burn hotter than the factory setup. If you go LED make sure to get something with an external heat sink for the resistor that will be built into it.

    Yeah.
I replaced all my under-cabinet kitchen lighting with LED's, definitely burn cooler than those little halogen/xeon bulbs that never last long. But, that's a slightly different animal. Looks like Philips makes one, the PHILIPS 4157ALED. Reviews are not awesome, and due to the lower load may cause a "fast flash" error indicating a bulb is out. But if you don't have that now, that probably would not be an issue.

The DRL lenses on my 2009 melted and I didn't notice it until I was at 37K miles, dealer said sorry, out of warranty. So I wrote a frustrated email to the president of Toyota USA since the issue was obviously there before I crossed 36K. They replaced them, and now I think there is a TSB and they extended the warranty period.

The TSB replacement period has passed, so i'm reading, and of course never got the bulletin and they didn't count it as a recall, so thanks for that Toyota.

The LED itself is significantly cooler. The fast flash is due to the decreased resistance of the LED. The flash relay is designed to cycle with a specific load in the circuit. They add a resistor to the circuit to resolve this, but if the heat generated by the resistor isn’t dissipated properly it’ll get extremely hot.

Looks like most of the LED replacements come with an isolated 50W, 6 Ohm resistor with heat sink to solve the hyperflash. Looking at switchbacks which have the white daytime and amber when turn signal is activated.

    Yeah.
They won't send notices on TSB's, unfortunately, only on recalls and service campaigns. On top of that, it helps to have the printed TSB with you when you show up for something -- I've had them act like they've never heard of such a thing until they realize you aren't the typical ignorant customer.

I've used the TYC replacements from RockAuto on the '06 4Runner, and they are of decent quality for less than half of the dealer cost, but I'd wait until you get leaks or other damage. Kind of a PITA to change out, and you'll likely break some of the plastic clips in the process. Sure miss just being able to replace a headlight with a screwdriver.

I kept forgetting to post this, but here's a slightly out of focus shot I snagged during the last eclipse. Stuff like this makes me really wish I had a good lens for this type of photography.

Got to, had to sit in Memphis Civil Court all day (paid of course). It was a cross between Judge Judy and America’s Dumbest...
People watching and the Judicial system is entertaining. Our case took over 3 1/2 hrs....we won:thumbsup: lawyers are such idiots. Anyway, got some $$$ to work on electronics and light controls.

Why in Memphis? Aren't you a bit far from there? Or were you providing expert witness testimony?

Yeah, I guess it is closer. Just thought you doing jury duty in Memphis would be odd.

Hey, next time you are up this way, come by and point out the trees I should keep or not keep -- free beer!

As someone who has to sit in Circuit Court every Friday for their job, the judicial system is entertaining. I've never seen anything more exciting than civil court, though. That's where the real mud gets to slingin'.
