Memphis is closer to me than most all of y'all. Haha. Between year end accounting stuff and chasing Mallard drakes, I've been pretty swamped. But with the end of January comes the end of both of those things...

Hoping to take a bigger trip this year if my vacation days work out. The Eastern side of the TAT would be fun if timed right with fall foliage. We'll see.

so looking at getting some new tires and can't decide between the at3 LT or k02. Anyone have experience with either? I had the older at3 once and liked them but they didn't look aggressive enough for me. Any help is appreciated.

When it comes to tires, I have found that 1) a great deal of feedback is anecdotal and 2) people seem to have a preference toward a tire based on factors other than actual performance, e.g., looks. With that said, I currently have K02's. So let me provide you some non-scientific feedback based on my personal experience. They are obviously louder than factory, but this was a known. My only real complaint would be how they handle in wet conditions (nothing dangerous - no hydroplaning). They seem to slip periodically during rain (traffic lights). I didn't experience this as much with Ridge Grapplers. Beyond this one issue, I'm satisfied. In fact, my son's 4Runner is due for tires and I will be replacing his Ridge Grapplers with KO2's. If you're near the Searcy area, swing on by and you can take my rig for a quick test drive.

Yeah, everything you're told, just take it with a grain of salt. KO2's are the obvious front runner for this forum for the one's that actually talk about it. I run them, so I guess that makes me a part of that group. I've only had experience with those and the Wrangler Duratracs. But I've only had KO2's on the Tacoma (Duratracs on old 3rd gen 4Runner). IMO they are the exact same performance wise. My decision simply came down to appearance. I think that the front/rear profile of the tread pattern of the KO2's looks awesome on the Tacoma and the aggressive sidewall pattern of the Duratrac looked better on the boxier 4Runner.

As for the AT3's, my wife has them on her 5th gen 4Runner and I love them. She doesn't really care what kind of tires she has, but I picked them out for her because they weren't too aggressive looking, but would still hold up to dirt road travel daily.

You can't go wrong with either. I'm sure the AT3's would be slightly cheaper.

    Yeah.
Man, if I needed new tires I have no idea what I would do. As much as people bash on these stock Goodyears, they seem to be great tires. Not the coolest looking, but they've performed great in all the various conditions I've tried them in so far. Everything's a trade-off, but I seem to be fine with the "performs mediocre at a lot of different things" tires. Might not buy another set new, but if someone had some new take-offs for cheap I would likely not pass on them.

I agree. Don't get me wrong: I've been keeping my eyes and ears open for what tires I'll want next. These stock Goodyears aren't just fantastic, but I've never thought of them as bad. They're good dailys, and I've run some trails I didn't have business being on with them at full pressure. All in all, not bad. I hope to spend some money on suspension pieces before I need new tires anyway. I've got nearly 25k miles on these and am unaware of how long they should last.

Same. Several of my buddies have Open Country R/Ts that serve them well on their half ton Chevys.

70k mile tires, have done everything asked of them and not overly loud (with the radio on). Though they do tend to pick up pea sized gravel pretty efficiently. These are 255/80/17 Open Country ATII
