Up in Blytheville now. Gotta appraise a bunch of dead trees tomorrow. I love farmers, but damn their chemicals and what they do to their neighbors and the surrounding Environment.

Has anyone had good luck or enjoy Gaia GPS? I'm thinking about trying out a membership, it seems to have everything I would want regarding mapping, gps, tracking and the app seems to run smoother than other free options I've tried. any input/suggestions?

There's a few guys here that run Gaia. I do, and I love it. I forget how much it is, but it's a good deal. The app works really well for me too. The hidden secret of Gaia is to log in on your computer before a trip to get the big picture of where you're trying to go. It's tougher for me to plan using the app on my phone just because the screen isn't big enough.

But I give it a big thumbs up.

Cool, I think I'll pull the trigger on it. Do they have any other competitors that offer as much as them? It should help take the guesswork out of finding trails and assist with some dispersed camping (maybe future overlanding?). It will also be nice to keep track of where we've been and our favorite locations, both hiking trails, and off-road/camping areas.

I feel like there are a ton of great places to wheel and camp in Arkansas but not very many people advertise it so they are hidden away for the few. I've tried a couple of free apps in the past that were okay'ish but the maps were out-dated and it would only cache so much of the map; once you traveled outside the service area you were flying blind.

If you've got plenty of storage space on your device, it's nice that Gaia lets you download offline maps. Now, I haven't played with the different layers online. I don't know if it downloads them all or just the one you have selected at the time.

It's definitely a plus when saving spots too. It lets you add pictures to the pins you drop too. I used this on a scouting trip in the Ozarks for camping spots. Later on, I can see where I marked a camping spot, but with the picture, I can actually see what it was. Maybe I can get a bearing of size for if there's a group wanting to camp there or whatever.

It's a great app. Well worth it!

I think most of us here can highly recommend Gaia. Its my go to nav app for sure. It's relatively simple to use, functional, and only drawback is loading the maps when out of cell service, but you can download hi-res sections if you have space on your device. It has great choice of map layers with basic membership, and I really like being able to do work on PC and then sync to device, as well as being able to share routes and folders with a click.

Hey you were near where my family is from...Osceola
I'll throw in another "yay" for Gaia. I use it on every trip.
Wish you could have joined us! You would have been proud of Chip and my reconnoiter one night for a campsite.

I have just unloaded the truck, ended up spending two days in Lubbock hanging with my buddies and came back to Dallas today. I'm looking forward to sleeping in my bed under the ceiling fan. Can't wait to see all the pics.
