Absolutely nothing wrong is FSR's. And I enjoy riding some (and will start out there more than likely, just to take in the area with the family, camping and what not), but I find parks have more of the technical driving aspects that one just cant drive right through leisurely; and I enjoy that part of the problem solving. Plus I figure I build the truck to do more stuff that a stock vehicle cant do...so if I dont put that stuff to use and push my own capabilities as a driver, then I see it as wasted time and energy.

But I still enjoy a dirt trail winding through the back country, stopping for lunch, etc of course! I think a 50/50 mix is good. In the same breath, I'd say its just as enjoyable trail riding with a group where some people are new to offroad or just got a Tacoma, and show them how capable these vehicles are from the factory!

Hot Springs has a great off road park. It'll have all you want and then some. Local Land Cruiser club holds events there.

EDIT: We do regular camping runs when the weather is nice. Keep an eye for here for plans.

I used to work with a guy (Jeeper) who used to come up here to the Superlift OHV Park in Hot Springs. He loved it.

Lots of exploring to do in the National forest too, more like fire roads. But I could give you directions to a lake about 20 miles north that can only be accessed by a 4x4. The Fish and Game uses a bulldozer to pull their boat back up the hill.

I’ve stumbled upon some pretty technical trails in the Ozarks. I’m not having fun if I’m not in 4lo!

We’re up for a run next weekend, but maybe not camping. I’ve got what may be a great route strung together that includes the bohannon. Chip and I have talked about doing it a dozen times in the last year. I think it’ll be pinstripe city regardless of the time of year though!

    Yeah.
I did a quick rinse at the car wash with what available quarters I had, mostly under the hood to knock off all that dust. But really only nature's baths. That hail storm we drove through helped.

Anyone know of a decent shop around Russellville AR? Will be in the area for a bit, the faithful steed needs a couple repairs. 20190924_154456.jpg

Not really, but seen alot of rigs in that area. Come Git Ya Some in Ft. Smith and 4x4 Mud Connection here in Little Rock I know, about an hour each way.

Just passing through or running trails in the Ozarks? Anyhoooo, welcome ... hope you get it all sorted out.

Last time my wife and I were out my truck had a steering rack bushing fail near the Union Schoolhouse. It was Friday afternoon around 4:30 and everything was closing. I stopped at the gas station in Hagarville to ask them who they would recommend. The guy working the register and two people eating there recommended Jim's Auto & Radiator Shop in Lamar. I pulled in after their closing time on a Friday afternoon and there was an employee working on his personal off road rig after hours. He did everything he could to help me without proper parts and didn't charge me a penny. Based on that, the discussion that I had with him about trails in the area, working on vehicles, and seeing the work they had done on other vehicles while I walked around their shop, I'd use them if I was in the Russellville area and needed work done.

No plan, gonna be too warm and grown up to do what we wanted to do, but watching for next weekend. Hopefully will be cool enough to camp. I had thought about camping at Middle Fork this Friday night and running Saturday...Really need to get a good first frost, or at least some cooler nights.
