His name is Winston. He's half lab, half poodle. I think he still might need a booster seat to see out the dash. I'm in the process of deleting the entire back seat; so, I'll try to rig him up something a little more comfortable for him so maybe he can get used to riding around.

    A thing or two...
I spent 6 hours at the Subie dealer in LR today. Had the 60k mile service done, inspection for exhaust leak recall done, and had them look at the door locks because there have been a handful of times now that I haven't been able to unlock the doors without locking them first (even though they're already locked). While they were doing the service, they found the turbo sump scavenger pump and front driver axle seal were leaking, so those got replaced too. Luckily those two were covered by my powertrain warranty.

The lawn is in desperate need of mowing, so that will likely be tomorrow.

Overall what's your opinion of the Subaru? I have a 2002 Civic for a DD and am thinking of replacing it with a Crosstrek. We had a 2001 Forester for about 7 years and I was pretty happy with it but am interested in your thoughts on their current quality.

You were about 10 mins from my house. I woulda come rescued you. I was working from home all day.

You know Dave is an engineer for Sub. He can tell you all you want to know about it. He's in the Carolinas rock climbing this week, but they'll be back Thurs. You should hit him up.

I did know that but wasn't sure if he daily drives one other than the prototypes he gets to play with which I wouldn't think really reflect quality of mass produced vehicles. I was unable to convince him to take that Ascent prototype off road. Something about not wanting to lose his job. :notsure:

I really like my WRX, but it's the only Subaru that I've own. My only complaint would be the noisy throwout bearing issue that the VA generation WRX has with the FA20. I've had mine replaced twice, and each time it's made noise sooner after replacement than before. I don't know if they've actually found a permanent fix for it. However, it doesn't seem to effect drivability, so I haven't bothered having it done again. There are aftermarket parts that are supposed to fix the issue, and I have them squirreled away for when they're really needed or the next time the transmission has to come out. That of course wouldn't be an issue with the Crosstrek, since I think they're all automatics.

There were a few forum members in VA that have Subarus as well, and I've never heard of any major issues from them. @TacoCat and @EatSleepTacos come to mind. There was at least one more that had a Crosstrek, but I don't recall their username.

    Yeah.
I've rented a Crosstrek and really liked it, it was fun to drive and a good all-around size for a daily. The "feel" of the interior seemed good quality but not great -- I would think Honda has them beat there. Obviously I have no clue about long-term reliability.
