False alarm. I’m confused why the Midland NMO mount has a nylon isolator that fits in the hole in the roof and the Larson NMO mounts don’t. The Larson ones have more metal-on-metal contact so before I drill a hole, I’m going to talk to some professionals and see if I should install the Larson NMO instead of the Midland one.

Got the headliner pulled down and trim opened up to route the coax once I get my questions answered. In the meantime I installed the radio and I’m super pleased with how it fits

Give Carl a shout at MJ Communications over here in NLR. He is a Midland dealer I believe. Great guy as well.

Sounds like Midland is maybe releasing an MXT500 and MXT575 in June that will be high-power AND have NOAA weather. If so, I may upgrade, just because MOAR POWER.

Talked to Carl, he got me squared away and it turns out that this cable I have will not work in my roof how I want it. I need to just go and buy a Larson NMO mount

Where did you hear that? The customer service rep I spoke with said not to expect new micro mobiles until the end of the year

I got my mxt400 mounted where the wireless cell phone charger was. I took it out and am going to be making a face plate out of kydex to make it look factory. Also gonna add a couple usb plugs in the face plate as well.

When I bought the MXT275, I looked at it as a temporary solution until the MXT575 comes out. I'm going to put the radio in my center console and run the mic cable out of the opening just under the armrest. I like the idea of a faceless.

Is one of those going to have all the controls in the mic? That feature of the mxt275 really appeals to me.

Ugh. Ham Radio Outlet doesn’t have any Larson NMO mounts in stock. I have no clue where else I could buy one locally

Is there a big Pilot truck stop anywhere nearby? They sometimes carry radio accessories.

I prefer a light, simple handset, don't like the controls in the handset. I still have my CB stuff installed, considering cleaning that out but it is nice to have on road trips if you want to hear trucker info.

I'll find the link to the post on the MXT500/575, think it was on the Midland forum.

Called Pilot, they didn’t seem to have any. I am quite excited to have the CB out of my dash :)
Hm, interesting. I don’t think anybody really knows when they’re supposed to be released. They were originally scheduled for last fall and clearly that didn’t happen.
