    Those look cool. What size?

never mind, I scrolled up and saw. I might have to consider those for my new set… It’ll probably end up coming down to which tire I can get the best price in the size I want though

Nope, I've hinted on here for almost 3 years now (early 2019; pre-2020 Tacoma reveal), that it will be redesigned following the next Tundra. I think TMMTX in Greater San Antonio gave away that the new Sequoia pushed out the Tacoma to Mexico, to be aligned with Tundra.

The current Sequoia only even received a refresh for 2018, because of it being renewed internally by execs during 2015. Per Akio Toyoda's desire, after seeing no changes since 2007, it was due to die by 2016-17 originally. American dealers begged him not to kill it, so in 2015 he reneged as he did on the impending deaths of 4Runner and Lexus GX.

From 2015 to 2017, the first Gen 2 Sequoia refresh since its December 2007 launch, was designed and developed as a new lease-on-life stopgap, being introduced in 2017 as a 2018 model, and then more changes in 2019 for 2020 Sequoias. 2022 will be a short Sequoia model year.

Redesign was originally supposed to be a 2022 model in the spring of 2021 following 2021 Tundra in October 2020, but when the Land Cruiser redesign and 2021 Tundra became 2022 models, Sequoia got shifted back a little to be a 2023 model and so did the next Tacoma from 2023 to 2024 and 2022 4Runner to 2023 (changed again to 2024.5).

Back in 2014, the Sequoia was as good as dead. By 2016, a new generation was underway and the 2018 refresh was getting finishing touches ahead of its debut. Since 2019, the next gen design has been complete. It's currently finishing up testing and pilot production at TMMTX.

I think the hardest part for me is deciding on a 2nd or 3rd gen! I’ve looking into purchasing new though with how these prices are looking for used. Going to hold out until I see exactly what I want!

They hold their value so well. I experienced the same thing when I bought my '17 - the different between a new one and a used one (2nd or 3rd gen) with 60k miles wasn't that much. Definitely makes buying new more appealing. Of course, the supply is all jacked up now. The dealership here in Jboro said they expect to not have steady new trucks on the lot til 2022.

BUUUT, on another note, they're finally going to be releasing the specs on the new tundra on the 19th. I've been drooling over tow rating rumors for far too long. :gossip: In all of the cutbacks in production carmakers are having to do because of covid, Toyota said they weren't cutting back Tundra quantities. Maybe that'll keep demand lower. Not a lot of bartering to be done when the sales team knows they'll sell it in the next 20 minutes to someone that'll pay sticker.

Ug. Went through this when we bought my wife's 4Runner. Looked at a 2 y/o with 25k miles and it was only around $5k less than a new one. When I pointed that out to the salesman in an attempt to talk him down his response was "yeah, we can go look at some new ones too."

ETA: We wound up going with a new one.

Absolutely! If I were to buy new there is no telling when they could get it in too. I’m sold on a Cement Off Road and Cement is sold out right now for 2021 models. I’ve been looking for some for decent prices used.

    Well well well. Finally.

    Also! Stripping paint kinda sucks:
    upload_2021-9-19_20-6-22.jpg
Weellll, I don't know if stripping is totally right. I could take it down all the way to bare metal (which is have where there was some surface rust), but most of the coats underneath seem less "flakey" like that outer one. I'm thinking I don't have to go to bare metal. I'm having to remember that it's only gonna get scratched up anyways.

I've got quite a few big panels ground mostly; now I just need to remove the doors and clean up all those edges....and obviously, remove the tent and do the top. The inside is probably just gonna get painted over lol.

The Norton 7" rapid strip wheels work well though, can't lie.

I've been to a few of their events and it's cool to hang out and talk with some other enthusiasts but like Pete I prefer to trail ride in smaller groups. When I went with them there were like 30 rigs with mixed experience. Someone in a 5th gen 4Runner with probably $15k in add-ons ran it off into a ravine that should have been EASILY avoided.

I wouldn't mind going back to one of their events but my wife scheduled the boy's birthday party that weekend so I won't be going this year.
