Had a nice evening with my fam and Tenbeers, unfortunately got a wake up call this morning from a friendly Fish & Game cop. Guess we missed the fine print reguarding camping during turkey permit hunts. Fortunately he didn't present us with the fine he kept reminding us about while encouraging us to break camp quickly.

Nice camp site. Can't dispersed camp during Turkey season on NF lands? Or were on one of those walk in places I saw going through?

This is a state run WMA, learned this morning you can't camp during special permit hunts without a permit for the hunt.

More Ozark NF trip pictures. Left from White Oak Mountain and wandered up though lost corner into the Falling Waters area. Spent a lot of time here stopping, taking pictures and taking short hikes.

Passing onward and northward I stopped and took a short hike at stacked Rocks. From there I continued on up to Wollum Ford. I didn't cross here as I did not feel up to it alone. Might have been doable, but I did not want to risk it! Was hoping to find a feature called the Narrows but could not orient the map and physical surroundings to find it... Oh well. maybe next time! A big water crossing and onward towards Gunners pool.

Had some trouble with my planned route for getting to Gunners pool as the 1808 road did not exist. I could not find the western end of the road at all. Well, that left an improvised route that took my through some beautiful country with some fun water crossing-one of which was the road becoming the creek for some distance. Eventually I wound up and around the Leatherwood wilderness and descended into Barkshed campground. Met a couple who were fellow adventurers and had a great conversation and discovered the end of the 1808 road! Bridge out... Continued up and out toward Gunners pool and found a wonderful camp about half way between Barkshed and Gunners Pool. Survived a raucous night of wind, lightening and rain.

Yea, thanks. It was! Hoping to get back and do smaller area, more intensive exploring. Maybe get a local to show some trails that are a bit more challenging... Still can't get over how clean it was and the sheer number of excellent dispersed camp site. Never been anywhere else like it. You Arkansas guys are seriously lucky to have that place!

@CS_AR hopefully your rigs weren’t outside for this. My dad called and said go put your truck somewhere covered it was about to hail, and he sure was right. Very bad hail over here it looked like a blizzard at some points.

@PinnaclePete Spent about 30 min in our only room without an exterior wall while trying to keep an 18 month old asleep. Wife's 4Runner and my DD Camry took some hail damage. My 4Runner was in the garage. This was the biggest one I could grab without stepping out from under the porch and risking a concussion. Friend about 2 miles from our place has a pic of tennis ball sized hail. Appreciate you thinking of us.

Coworker/friend of mine lives in that area. Asked him if he was doing okay. "Yeah man. In my shop drinking beer and making holsters. Why? What's up?"

    Edit: Friend's hail pic.

Thanks for sharing. We had a little bit of small hail but no damage to the vehicles. I'll check tomorrow. Those clouds were really dangerous looking.

Thats good to hear, crazy how just a mile or 2 away it was that bad. Roads were flooded all around town, after the hail and rain stopped I drove around checking stuff out. Saw quite a few cars "underwater" and even helped one Policeman with a flooded Charger, he had me take him back to the station while riding in the bed of my truck.
