I was wondering because he's my wife's favorite player and since the Nats released him he's played really well for the Rangers...actually he's much better.

Rangers. Actually the Nats didn't release him so much as he just held out for a better deal than what the Nats could pay at the time. Rangers paid top dollar for a one or two year deal when he was a free agent.

Uhh, Desmond went to the Rockies and they gave him a first baseman's glove.......he's yet to play this year as he's been on the DL.
He did play for the Rangers but only for the one year in CF........good luck to him.

I didn't know that...my wife supposedly follows him closely. I'll bring this up and she'll probably go "oh yeah, by the way..."

He played short stop for the Nats and I want to say he was in the outfield when he was at the Rangers. First base will be an interesting challenge.

Last year he really improved his hitting over previous years.

On a different note the Philly's have really given the Nats a run for the money this year. This division can be kind of boring at times but this year looks like it'll be interesting.

Daniel Murphey for the Nats has been great, and Adam Eaton has been phenomenal as well.

As a Cincy Red he was a monster. I followed primarily because Fantasy Baseball. And when the Reds played the Giants. Seems he's on the downside of his career. But he's still dangerous. Just not as consistent as he once was.

He revitalized the Nats hitting game. Harper, Zimmerman and Werth always seemed to look for the homerun hero hits instead of just getting on base.

Harper has shown dramatic improvement over last year. He's starting to hit more in the gap and gets on base more often now. Last year he got walked alot.

That's what I was wandering. The news stations around here play him up I'm sure, all they talk about is the home runs he hits.

Well Harper and Bruce torched it up tonite! Both with a pair of HR's. I think Harper had something wrong with him last year but just didn't say much, maybe not to give the pitchers any info on him.

Harper is on a tear for sure! He's having the season he probably should have been having.

Earlier I got caught up about Harpers basic hitting improvement in the gap but I should have mentioned his home run streak. It has been painful to watch their bats either die all at once or have them all constantly line out when they did hit in the past couple of seasons.

Also tonight Harper and Zimmerman both got a grandslam.

Good Gaud . . . can't buy a run. You would think 2 games, only 2 runs allowed, probably 2-0? Nope, just 1-1 but we did finally beat Bumgarner.

Lost 2-1 in 11 innings last night but won 2-0 tonight.

It seems the only person with worse run support than my entire KC Royals team is . . . Madison Bumgarner. Almost felt sorry for him. Almost . . . :p

They said tonight that in all of his starts so far, the Giants have only managed a total of 5 runs . . . and he was responsible for 2 of those by hitting 2 HRs.

So, really only 3 runs of support for all of his starts.

I'm sure that will get better too as the weather heats up.

We are damn lucky to be at .500 with our pathetically weak run support at KC but our starting pitching has been REALLY good.

Vargas pitched and absolute gem again.

I heard an interesting story last night about how the term "walk off" win came about. Apparently it started when Dennis Eckersley was interviewed after giving up a home run in a tie game that resulted in his team losing game 1 of the 1988 world series. When interviewed he mentioned how difficult the "walk off" back to the dug out was.

This was mentioned last night by one of the Nats commentators as an interesting fact of baseball history. I thought it was interesting to know.
