Yeah just when I reported Dayton Moore said there was no room and time to move forward with the youngsters, I think he was in bigger disbelief that no one picked him up? Seriously? 29 other teams all think their 3rd base is covered better than Moustakas not to mention his consistently improving and exceptional last year, bat!

    That's OK. We'll take him!

Ohtani hitting a home run and getting a win as a starting pitcher in the same week, all for $550k/yr salary.

Not much of an MLB fan, but I do play baseball. I’m finishing out my last season (senior year of highschool) after playing every year since t-ball. My main positions are 3rd, shortstop, and pitcher. I only have one picture of this season so far but hopefully I’ll have more once the weather stays more consistent. 35EAD6E9-D06C-4EA7-94B1-F7A82C1344F5.jpgAnd it’s always surprised me how much an arm can bend backwards when pitching.

A little of this and a little of that.
    ^^^Cool picture Hunter^^^

I played baseball in H.S. too. Being a relatively tall left-hander, I played first base and outfield, but I did a little pitching too.

Best of luck with your last season of H.S. baseball, and keep the pictures coming.

Hopefully this season goes well, but it’s been rough so far (2-6). We lost 5 seniors from last year and our new players didn’t win a game on jv last year, so we’re relying on mainly our 4-5 upperclassman and only 2 reliable pitchers. However, last year we finished the regular season with a 7-14 record but ended up winning in the post season and finishing 3rd in the state tournament.

Our last two games, we played our rivals and lost both but it was kinda close. I pitched 6 1/3 innings with 98 pitches, 64 strikes, 8 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs.

The other game I played short while my other senior buddy played third and we had like 11 combined plays. And I’ve improved hitting and went 2-3 with a single, double, walk, and strikeout.

Good for you guys and good luck to you! Of course, nearly 60 it doesn't matter now, but I was pretty good at baseball but we didn't have organized baseball past junior high. Now, if you had money to pay fees and travel, you could play AAU and American Legion ball but being a farm boy I had other priorities in the summer. I often wonder what might have been . . . :notsure:

Meanwhile, my Royals suck so bad they aren't even allowed to play. 4 cancellation/postponements already so we went to Toronto to play in the dome and a storm knocked a big hole in the dorm roof so they can't even play there.

Actually, our starting rotation is still pretty solid and, if we ever get to a point of needing it, our setup and closer should still be pretty solid as long as everyone stays healthy. Long relief, defense in spots, just doing incredibly stupid things at the worst times, and our cold bats are all still BIG problems [details]. I suspect like last year, we will get it all straightened out eventually as long as we are not 17 games out before then?

KC finally won a game that they allowed a run in . . . on the one hand progress but on the other . . . this is REALLY depressing. To think our pen is SO bad that if starting pitching which is still quite good allows even one run, we will likely lose? If not for the lowly Reds, we'd have the worst record in baseball. Last year, we ended up 81-81 which is an amazing feat considering we started 17 games under. 11 games under and counting already. Thankfully, there have been 5 postponed games so far from weather. We're bound to be better when we make them up

So, last night, Boston set a record for the fastest to 21 wins ever . . . at KC's expense. 21-7

And KC, in the same game, set a record for the fastest to 21 losses ever . . . 7-21

Tonight, it looked like we were going to win for sure but our only reliable relief pitcher we still have, Herrera, gave up a dinger to blow the save.

But, we came up in the 13th, and Soler [remember that Wade Davis for Soler trade?] who is finally learning how to play baseball, popped a 3 run dinger off of Boston's closer, Kimbrel.

Yet, in the bottom, Boston came back and got 2 before flying out to the wall for the 3rd out.

I'll tell you what, as much as it pains me to say, I'm pretty impressed with Boston. They are NEVER out of a game.

If they stay healthy, they are going to be tough. Long season though . . .

No doubt about it, baseball is fun. I grew late so it wasn't in the cards for me and there were plenty of other options for exercise. I have to say I'm grateful to my Dad for showing me as many as he could since I've enjoyed them all. Nothing better than a friday pickup softball game with the gang and a bucket of beer though.

How rare to see the Giants winning with ok pitching and tons of hitting. It's certainly nicely to see the new faces making big contributions even as the aces are getting sidelined.
