    Why I don’t gamble?

Since my last post bragging on how much the Royals have improved . . .

    they are 1-9. o_O

That said, Soler hit one out of Fenway over the green monster the other day that I think might still be going? They could not even calculate how far it would have gone because it was still rising when it disappeared over the wall. Next AB he does it again except this one hit the upper railing and bounced back in. The kid is finally paying dividends.

2nd place in HRs behind Trout.

"Yankees’ season-long Orioles annihilation is mercifully over"

    BRING ON THE DODGERS!
    August 23-24-25
The two teams have met 11 times in the World Series, more times than any other pair of teams from the American and National Leagues.

At least I called this one . . . and arguably while missing their 3 best pitchers. I suspect this team will be a tough out in October.

If I complain my Royals suck, they go 10-2. If I start bragging on them, 1-9.

And Dozier is powering up as expected, Mondesi back soon, and we still have arguably the best all around hitter in the league in Merrifield. I still like our core team. We have speed, great defense, other good bats that just lack a little bit on the consistency thing [details]. IMO, we are two starters, one more power bat, and that "pen to win" from being back on top. We have 4 pitchers that all "could" become those 2 starters and the other 2 "could" become those close down relievers. They all have electric stuff! Will likely be looking for another power bat and a closer in the off season. I think we have the rest of the pieces already in the system.

Bottom line: I don't think it will take 30 years this time.

I was amazed when we played the Cardinals how amazingly consistent they have been over the last 30 years, only 1 losing season in the last 20, but they have not had any more post season success than the Royals have.

All we have to do down the stretch is keep our shit together and we might just be able to play postseason baseball.

Haven’t checked into this thread in a bit. Indians are playing some good ball, I’ll take a split series. Gleyber Torres is only 22 years old, that kid is going to be a super star.

Yea he is, his fielding just has to catch up with his hitting. I was going to go to that series but I’m getting my house ready to put on the market second week of September.

    Some really cool shit
Giants aren't doing much good after a record setting July, but to all you nay sayers, Kevin Pillar is doing great for the G-men.

    .271 avg. 17 dingers 67 RBI 10 steals.

    And some spectacular glove work.

A short poem from a suffering Phillies fan.

    Gabriel’s Folly (working title)

Don’t give a rip about FIP and WAR’s just a bore
Earned runs and ribbie’s is how I keep score

I don’t over shift I play em straight away
Or slightly to pull its better that way
Two fielders in right and maybe another
If he hits it to third who’s gonna cover?

Launch angle and exit velo mean nothing to me
A squeeze or a gapper’s what I want to see
We used to have rallies four hits in a row!
Now its a walk and three Ks game over lets go

The new science of hitting now don’t interrupt
Swing for the fences, and don’t EVER choke up
I miss the hit and run, a once useful ploy
Going the other way I used to enjoy

Forty bombs at the break, oh what’s the use
At least in the 90’s they were all on the juice

“Sacrifice? What?” The new breed will say
Wait for the dinger if takes all day
Runners immobile as if tethered to bags
Remain motionless as if allergic to tags

Run through the bag, use two hands
    Its all fundamentals
Lost in the era of millionaire rentals

Here comes Kapler, time for the next stiff
Three hours and counting and its only the fifth
A game with no clock its always been said
Time for work, huh? I just went to bed!

    Analyze this and analyze that
At the end of the day its a ball and a bat
Numbers a plenty WHiP and BaBip
Worthless stats are an iceberg and
    Thats just the tip

A once beautiful game now a thing of the past
Grab me a beer and the fucking pitcher hits last!

i hear the Yankees have the 3rd longest streak of not being swept in a series ... 211 games?

that may be coming to an end this evening in Oakland :crapstorm:
