59 63 65? Ancient history I know but it sounds like giants fans talking about the past. Let’s move on and focus on this new decade. Living in the past never helped anyone. Good luck bud.

The Dodgers have put together a fantastic group of talent-no denying that and they are in their window to win as they will inevitably have to fall from grace at some point and suffers the pains that come from years of excellence. I don’t like the Dodgers at all but I am a baseball fan first and have tremendous respect for continuous run of high level baseball they have had. I hope we can see a repeat of ‘65 with the Twins winning round 2. There are zero hard feelings when talking S about ball teams. I am mostly just grateful that there are still enough folks who care enough to express their passion for baseball.
Pitchers and catchers report soon and for me the Super Bowl is welcome because it means the “real” sport of baseball is on the horizon.

We have until 2014 to be in the same decade as the last of the 3 WS trophies so your stuck with us awhile yet. That said, the way the Giants won and the way teams are built now has changed. Years of questionable trades and signings both preceeded and followed that time and as a result we now suck with the worst of the leages teams. We'll see if the new management team can turn it around but it will take time to rebuild a farm system depleted by poor trades and late draft choices since baseball is unlike the other pro sports where draft picks go straight to the starting teams. In any case there's a good chance we could have trophies for 3 major sports within a ten year span. I feel pretty damn fortunate to be around for it.

I'm not counting appearances, only wins. The tadpoles have been fun with Thornton on the ice but never got over the hump. I think their best chance got usurped when the league gave the expansion LV team so much equity to start with. "Here, draft an all star squad from around the league". They got some payback last year but too little, too late for many of them. Sports are like that though, you get what you earn, not what you deserve. Ask Bills fans about that one.

Agree and as a lifetime Vikings fan I get it more than you know. However, making it to the big dance is a tremendous victory and even my disdain for the Dodgers cannot keep me from respecting the total organizational professionalism that is required to reach that final series/game.

Well that new playoff format is fucking dumb. I’m convinced Rob Manfred hates baseball at this point. We need to save baseball for him.

Indeed ... change the game too much from the fundamentals in any sport NFL NHL NBA Etc to try and grab new fans that will never probably follow the sport anyway and abandoning what you got (upsetting current fan base) equals brilliant move Einstein. o_O

It just dilutes the game. Absolutely idiotic. Might as well just let half the teams into the playoffs like the NBA and the NHL. World Series in December. Yeah, real smart.

I remember just before realignment and adding the wild card the Giants won 100 games and didn't make the playoffs finishing second behind Atlanta. Then won the division but only had one home game getting swept 3-0 by the wild card Miami team because the series was 2 there before the first of 3 home games in SF. They do stupid shit sometimes and sometimes they fix stupid shit. It was fun watching them make it through so many do or die games that started with the wild card in Pittsburg but it does seem like teams that sweep the later 7-game series are often at a disadvantage against teams that go 4-2 or 4-3 as happened to the heavily favored Tigers. The luxury of setting up the pitching staff doesn't seem to offset the bats going cold or pitchers losing their edge after too many days off.
