It will be rough no doubt. I predicted 75 wins and I am a fan.

Giants fan since 1965. They aren't going to win 60 games.

Since the winning span they’ve been decimated by injuries. Every time either a veteran or new guy got hot they’d get hurt, in every way possible. All the seemingly impossible ways they found to win those 3 years exhausted their supply of good fortune. I just hope I don’t get dementia and forget things like:
Ishijawa’s walk off to win the NLCS or Morse’s home run that tied it.
Zito’s bunt single. Blanco’s walk off bunt single, Huff’s first career bunt.
    The band of misfits
Pat the bat Burrell, Cody Ross, Juan Uribe, Aubrey Huff, Edgar Renteria, Andres Torres, Nate Shierholtz, Freddy Sanchez, Aaron Rowand, Travis Ishikawa, Mike Fontenot.
Panda’s 3- homer game against Verlander and the Tigers
    Buster’s grand slam against Latos
Renteria’s 3- run homer against Cliff Lee
    Crawford’s grand slam against Volquez
Bumgarner slamming the door with 5 shut out relief innings.
Panik’s diving stop glove flip DP
Scutaro, backing up Crawford, in the rain and in the clutch, smoooth.
Down 2-0 to the Reds but not out.
18 innings against the Nats, Yusmeiro Petit’s 6 scoreless in relief for the win.
Fear the Beard(before there was an NBA version)
Romo locking up Cabrera with a fastball down main street because of that insane slider.
The core-4 relievers Affeldt, Casilla, Lopez, and Romo, none of whom were feared by the league, but all found a way to perform in the clutch.
Cain showing he knew what a shut down inning was.
Lincecum, the little lefty that could, and did.
Veterans, Peavy, Hudson, Volgolsong getting down early but coming back for more.
These teams weren’t ever favored to win. The other teams had the more famous pitchers and sluggers going in. Baseball is unique among pro sports in that the talent on paper has less to do with winning than any of the others. Teams that push metrics above all else end up missing out on the intangibles that separate baseball from the rest.
It would not surprise me a bit to have to not much more to cheer about for some time to come but those 3 years made up for a lifetime of disappointments. I keep thinking of Kelly Downs and all his years of pitching for mediocre teams.

I became a fan when I moved here in ‘81. Some pretty lean years along the way but the past decade was extra special because of it.
    BTW, Timmy was a righty.

Yeah but he acted like a lefty and for some reason I always think of him as one.

College is going for the same money grab the pro sports are... their labor is just cheaper.

Agreed. College is the worse, at least pro ball (all sports) you know it’s about the money straight up. College is about the $$ hidden by lies and power. SEC is Houston and Boston and that probe is coming.

I agree, Huff was instrumental that year and he has the right to speak his mind. It also means he has the obligation to accept the consequences for executing that right. It was a stupid and reckless thing to say in a nation plagued with mass shootings. Rights come with responsibilities. They don’t come cheap or free of consequence. It saddened me to hear both the result and the reason but neither surprise me at this point.
