I’m sick and tired of cheating. “They do it too” isn’t an excuse. Blaming umpires or the commissioner for something that is a blemish on the players is retarded. Yes, it’s annoying that they have to check but put the blame where it belongs. You don’t blame Leo’s for speeders.

 

If all the pitchers were free to use sticky substance to do it what would be the downside? Honest question… better control but fewer runs/ on base/ hits?? Did anyone else catch the Phillies-Nationals game when Joe G got ejected?

 

It's not so much the checking for foreign substances, I think people are just fed up with all the rule changes by Manfred in general. 7 inning double headers, automatic runner on second in extra innings, pitchers have a 3 batter minimum, etc. It's just getting ridiculous at this point imo.

 

I agree with 1/4 things brought up.
I like the pitcher 3 batter rule.

 

The seven inning double header is bad. The runner on second in extras is bad. The three batter rule sucks for the LOOGYS, but isn't really bad. The new foreign substance check seems to be a good thing, but there should be some kind of penalty to the team requesting it multiple times incorrectly in order to prevent it being abused.

 

The one thing I don’t want to see is a DH in the National League. You don’t hit, you don’t play and vise versa. It would eliminate so much of what a manager gets to/has to do. I want the leagues to be a bit different. Some of the changes make sense though, I like the 3-batter rule.

Not that I’m complaining but does anyone else think the Angels got robbed by instant replay?

 

If foreign substances really are a problem then the league is delinquent in enforcing the rules it already has. That’s always been part of the umpire crews job, it just wasn’t getting done.

and i have hated instant replay in any sport ever since it started...

Don't like the 7 inning one either but I understood it last year because they were doing the best they could to give us something of a season, same for the runner on 2nd.

Hate the 3 batter rule.

Maybe just b/c it's been done recently more with the foreign substance thing, IDK..though Romo's reaction was hilarious
