Baseball world still doesn’t get it putting the Dodgers and Rays ahead of the Giants to win it all. Probably did us a favor but this dwtl trend is seriously old. Best starting and bullpen era over the last month and most HRs in the NL. 24-7 down the stretch. Not a single sub .600 month. And oh yeah, most wins of any team(you know, that one stat that actually counts). It’s baseball and anything can happen including an underdog team breaking a 100+ year old franchise record for wins and going on to win the WS.

 

Brandon Crawford is a done deal, maybe Buster and BB as well. It would be great to see all three slow breathers sticking around as the nucleus of the team. Teams used to own players rights but with free agency it’s as much about teams low balling offers as it is about players agents salary hunting. Chicago traded away their core not even bothering to offer extensions or compete in free agency. Everyone here was sad to see Pablo go but his career was always likely a short one so that big payday was his one chance. No matter what happens this post season a lot a guys won’t be around next year, there are just too many free agents, one year deals, and outstanding performers to pay all of them what they deserve and could get elsewhere. It’s the price of winning that small/medium market teams without $1/4 billion budgets have to navigate.

 

Reds and Yanks has been a good game, so far, Cole puttered out quick.
