What's y'all's opinions on some of the new rules expected to come? The Joey Gallo rule is just stupid (no shifts). Defenses have been shifting since Babe Ruth played. If you can't adjust your swing to hit the other way (like most amateur players can) then you shouldn't be able to bitch about it, Joey.

I swear they just want to make it more like football, score score score compared to days past.

Forcing the four infielders to be on their side of second base is hardly a "ban" on the shift. You'll still have those shifts where the shortstop is damn near up the middle and the second baseman is halfway between first and second. I'm 100% fine without the absurd overshifts we've been seeing recently.

I'm a purist, but I guess the DH was inevitable for the NL. It sure makes the manager's job easier. Gone are the days of the chess match, especially late in games.

The "double-hook" DH rule they're rolling out for the Atlantic league might change that somewhat. I don't know the exact details, but the DH gets pulled when the starting pitcher comes out of the game.

I guess at least it's a little easier for interleague play when an AL team is in a NL park

Astros tie the Boston Beaneaters of the 1800s with their 10th straight opening day win. Strange that the record is that low.

Pirates got their first win. I'm waiting for the farm system to start to produce MLB ready players, another year or so.

Yes. Injured his wrist in the first game in the first inning. I thought this might be another extended IL stint, but he was back in the line-up the next game. Now we need Cruz and a few of the promising pitchers to come up. There's a good deal of talent not far off. Hope springs eternal.
