On another note, watch the Padres next season, they finally have an owner(s) with deep pockets & aren't afraid to spend money....

Nice. I've always liked the San Diego area. Should have transferred there years ago when I had the chance.

Meanwhile, the Marlins are in another tailspin. Traded Buehrle and Reyes to Toronto.

 Sounds like a fire sale the Padres would always do in the past after the season ended.. Always liked the Marlins, hell they went to the series the first year of franchise IIRC..

    MLB MVP awards for 2012.

Detroit's Miguel Cabrera won the American League's Most Valuable Player award on Thursday after becoming baseball's first Triple Crown winner in 45 years, and San Francisco's Buster Posey was voted the National League honor.

Both deserved the MVP's. Buster was a no-brainer and in my opinion Cabrera was too... 1st Triple Crown winner in 45 years should. Although I won't totally dismiss Mike Trout being a strong candidate... any other year he would have been my choice for MVP.

Cabrera is scary good, Buster totally deserves this. Going down the stretch this guy was unbelievable.

The Atlanta Braves signed B.J. Upton to a five yr. $75 million deal.

Larry, you watched him the last several years in Tampa Bay, is he going be worth it?

Sorry to see him go. One of my favorite players on the Rays team...he will be missed.

His brother is also a great player...I forget what team?

I don't think any ball player is worth 75 mil for 5 years. And I also miss the days when players were loyal to their team for their entire career. Cal Ripken Jr. comes to mind. Those days are about gone. :(

:amen: I miss those days too. Derek Jeter may be the last.

I agree that nobody is worth the money these ball players are making these days and that loyalty to the team for entire careers is a thing of the past.

Cal Ripken Jr. was one of a kind. Played for one team and just about played every game he had the uniform on. Amazing!

I think the other Upton ballplayer is on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

I hope B.J. does well for the Braves. They sure can use his speed, bat and defense. Together with Heyward the Braves outfield is looking good.

    X2... Chipper had a good run w/Atlanta.

Kinda curious where Michael Bourn is gonna wind up? I would have liked for him to stay in ATL but they're left handed heavy hitting wise and with Scott Boras as his agent he's gonna want a bunch of $'s.

Cal is a class act 100%

broke the consecutive game record with 2131, what a memorable game that was...actually sureal...

totaled at 2631. Doubt that record will ever be broken.

played for Baltimore his entire career...and still lives there.

Yeah he had an awesome run. I am a Phillies fan and he killed us so many times. Hate the Braves but even a Philly fan had to respect Chipper and the way he played the game. First ballot hall of famer I believe.

As a long time Orioles fan and can appreciate great 3B and Chipper was great! Living in GA I got to see the Braves all the time and after seeing Chipper day in day out he made playing 3B look easy compared to the rest of the Nat'l leaguers. For sure 1st round ballot.

I agree, but I'm also glad STL didn't pay Pujols what LA did. He'll be the most expensive DH in the league in a year or two.
