Why put Jimenez in?!! Why?!! I hate him.

 

Now the O's can sit around all off season going "gee, we had the best relief pitcher in baseball, what would have happened if we used him?"

I think most managers would have walked Encarnacion to load the bases and set up a force out double play. The only runner that mattered was Donaldson. Monday morning quarterbacking here. Go Giants!

 

Giants did that with the Rockies on Labor Day. Result was a grand slam. You just never know in baseball.

 

Yeah I was shocked when they pitched Edwin.

 

Always cringe when I hear that name ... expecting to see something like this :

 

I can't wait to see the drama between the Jays and Rangers. Those teams hate each other. Two ALDS back to back and with the bat flip last year... yeah this shit will get heated if the series goes to 4 or 5 games.

 

Eh, it made sense to me. Britton is a one inning guy (sometimes only 2 outs). My thought was you wait until you get the lead to put him in the bottom of the inning and close the game. If you put him in the 11th inning you aren't bringing him out for the 12th. Now, you could argue they should have brought Britton in once Jimenez had two on. My bigger issue is that they didn't put anyone else out there to pitch. Buck left him out there even though it was clear he was in trouble. Anyone at that point would have been better than Jimenez.

 

That's why we love this crazy game!

LOL, yeah. If you had watched the Jays down the stretch though, constantly blowing tied or 1 run games in the 7th-10th innings, you would of felt the same.

 

Buck had already used 8 pitchers out of 10 total (including Jimenez), so he was running out of pitchers to use for later innings.

Of course, Buck could have probably used Chris Davis as a pitcher in a pinch, since Chris had already won a game for the O's a few seasons ago.

 

Woulda, coulda, shoulda...

 

the best line of the night was "Buck will go to sleep knowing his best reliever was warming up in the bullpen and he watched that no doubt game winning home run sail right over the bullpen as he warmed up."

 

O's Buck not using Britton is comparable to:

Seattle Seahawks not using Beast Mode for touchdown attempt in Super Bowl 49 closing seconds, allowing Patriots to win.

Ravens Billy Cundiff missing that field goal in the closing seconds of the 2012 AFC Championship Game, allowing the Patriots to advance to the Super Bowl.

 

This wasn't a championship game, and I doubt either the Jays or the O's will be a threat past the ALDS. This coming from a Jays fan.
