A couple things come to mind like tornadoes and elbows... :D. One of them is a cousin of one of my friends.

Edwards was one of them! AFAIK spies went from AMA to MotoGP and THEN to WSBK.

The one we’re missing is a certain Ausie who battled Edward’s for the WSBK title before they both came to MotoGP. One of the best championship battles I can remember following. The last round in Italy was some of the best racing I’ve watched.

    I always forget about Bayliss!

Spies went from AMA to MotoGP briefly, then to WSBK, then back to MotoGP.

Yeah, I was at a loss. I thought Hayden maybe? It seems you go from MotoGP to WSBK to AMA to test rider.

Yeah WP is an in house brand for KTM, but it's pretty high quality stuff for an in house product. Even with Red Bull as a title sponsor, Honda and Yamaha have way stronger budgets to work with. While KTM has been racing in other levels of MotoGP and other series, they haven't been in the premier class as long everyone else and I suspect they are still learning and playing catch up to some degree.

Spies won AMA Superbike 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2009 he went to and won WSBK while doing a few wild card rides in MotoGP. He then went to MotoGP in 2010 but left after the 2013 season due to shoulder injuries.

I was glad he moved on from AMA racing. It was clear he and Matt Mladin were sandbagging which made AMA races the Matt and Ben show for years. Then he goes and races tracks he's never ridden and wins the WSBK championship... He could ride the wheels off a factory bike, but those GP bikes are a whole different monster. Staying in WSBK most likely would have been a long, successful career of racing for Spies. But I can't blame him for making the move to MotoGP. That hindsight though...

KTM is pretty well known in SX and Supermoto. Things in the next couple years are going to get interesting for sure.

I rode a KTM 640 Enduro for 27,000 miles before moving to the race track scene. It took me to Canada, Baja, Moab, Pikes Peak, Mount Evans.... It was a good "do it all" bike.
I have a tagged KTM 250 xcw-e for single track and weekend camping adventures in the mountains. This bike is awesome. The only bike I'd think of getting rid of it for is the KTM 790 Adventure. I'd like to get back into the ADV scene these days.

KTM has it together in their dirt bikes and adv bikes. I think they're getting close in the road and road racing bikes.

I put in the same picks on my betting group. All I can say is, what a race! That should be a pivotal moment for the man in second overall. I liked him before this race but now hope he takes the championship this year.

Aprilia now moves ahead of Factory Yamaha in points. lol...

I had a KTM Duke II. It was a really fun supermoto but parts would rattle off of it. My tail light fell off. I had an Akro full system and had to have 2 Y-pipes. One on the bike and the other at the welders. Finally I just let it free float so it would stop ripping apart at the mounting bracket. Helluva wheelie machine. See you guys in 5 weeks after the break.

Official- Rins to LCR Honda. Not sure how I feel about this. Crutchlow had a pretty good run of it.

Ah Christ, just read that Quartararo has a long lap penalty going into this weeks race for what happened between him and Esparargo in the last race. That can either be a huge motivator knowing he can get way out front and do it without losing his position or it can be a detractor and be stuck in the back of his head all weekend with doubt. We'll see. Dovi has announced his retirement. Saw it coming. Rumor is that this will be his last race and Crutchlow will step in for him for the rest of the season? Interesting. Loves me some win-it-or-bin-it Crutchlow.

I think a long lap penalty is a good response for Fabio's reckless judgement which had an impact on Aleix's race and ultimately his season points standings. That was a stupid move.

I hate it for Dovi to retire. Just 4 years ago he was Marquez's closest competitor. I get it though. Yamaha ought to change their logo from a tuning fork to a wheelchair. "Wanna retire? Hop on a Yamaha. We'll end your career for you!" Ducati was foolish to let him go. Knowing now that Marquez's injuries would keep him from being competitive, I believe Dovi would have won the Premier class title the year Mir won with shitty stats. Oh well.

Hopefully Crashlow steps in and destroys the rest of those debilitating M1's. If anyone is gonna spit the truth about how the Yamahas are substandard, it's gonna be Crutchlow. I love how he has very little filter. Haha

At least Dovi is smart enough to get off that bike before the end of the season. I watched a video where he stated he always wanted to ride the Yamaha. However, at this point in Yamaha's situation, it was a negative experience.

Qualifying was something else. Last couple seconds, everybody leap-frogging to P1. Still, doesn't really mean anything for the race. Qualifying 1:57's. Race pace??? 1:59's I bet.

Gotta give credit to Vinales, he rode a damn fine race. If he keeps this up, all the people who said he was an over payed turd at Yamaha and didn't deserve a factory bike are gonna have to enjoy that humble pie.

This race made the season more interesting. Some great racing and passes for sure.

New to this thread in particular. Huge gp fan. Hardest part is to try to catch it when's it's on TV.
