I never pay much attention to testing and qualifying. Any fool can do one fast lap. To do 25 fast laps takes skill. But good for Vinales to come out of the gates swinging.

I love motorsports and basically anything with an engine and wheels. Well, almost anything... LOL. I love riding and miss it. But honestly I don't ride well even though I grew up around dirt bikes and sport quads. I mean I suck on either dirt or the street. Plus I have nothing to ride at the moment so I live vicariously through the pros.

I grew up in the garage holding wrenches and taking sag measurements for my dad who was always building some kind of tricked out track bike. He always was into racing, but he started taking me to WSBK at Laguna Seca starting in '99 I think. I was 9 years old. That's been our father son trip ever since and the rest is history. We watched GP come and go at Laguna and have been going to COTA for the last 7 years. COTA has become a shit show so our sights are set on Europe sometime this year or next. Anyone done any European GP's?

Interesting tidbit in the news. Petrucci to race AMA this year. Once again proving that AMA is where riders go to die.

Well, it's hard to hold a seat on the world's stage these days. And racers just wanna race. Hell, Petrux won a stage in the Dakar Rally in his first year racing it. I guess it's go be a big fish in a little pond or hope to become a tester for a team. Honestly, I'd rather see him in AMA than retire. Too bad it wasn't WSBK. I hope he can race Dakar again.

I join a MotoGP betting league every year. I won last year's, so I went with the high roller bets this year. I have to set an alarm on my phone so I don't forget to place my bets.

    :fingerscrossed:

So, does Vinales win at Qatar???

    Touching back on this convo....

Two major issues supporting why I feel Yamaha needs to get their shit together, that I totally neglected to bring up:

1: Their riders have been complaing of rear grip issues.

2: Front tire overheats when following closely.

Considering Yamaha has the slowest bike right now, their riders are going to depend very much on slip streaming onto straight aways. Knowing the front tire overheating issue, how confident do you think the Yamaha riders are going to be when it comes to needing the slipstream and then trying to late break up the inside for the duration of a race? Seems a bit futile to me.

So yeah, if Yamaha doesn't get "that shit" together, it's gonna be another tough season.

Anyway, back to countdown banter. :bikewheelie2:

Good news, MotoGP to be televised this season on NBC and CNBC. No sub needed!

I lived in a few places in California a decade ago. One was Occidental. Can't believe I passed Sears Point / Infineon without ever going there or riding it. I took an S2000 on Buttonwillow Raceway and Streets of Willow When I lived in Oceanside. Never did have any track bikes while I was out there though.

Sears Point was my home track. I raced 750 Superbike on a Ninja, Open Twins on a TLR and Super Singles on a CRF450. All different seasons. That track is awesome with it's ups and downs. TV doesn't do it justice. Different configurations. I miss it but it's a rich man's sport. Always wish somebody would have given me a bike and said,"Here, go win some races."
