Hey guys, I'm new to the world of Tacomas and am trying to learn as much as possible in what little free time that I have. I've been doing some searching and trying to determine if there are any staple mods that ya'll do that can squeeze out a few more ponies from the engine. I bought my very clean 2013 already with a K&N CAI on it, and that appears to be the only engine modification done. What about a throttle body spacer, or bigger MAF? I don't want to tear apart the motor right now, mainly due to cost. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The procharger is very necessary lol

For real though after intake upgrade exhaust would be next. Depending on where you live I'd recommend URD U spec headers and Roost Factor Y Pipe. Do know that it isn't going to throw you in the seat or anything until you start getting into some serious modding (Gearing, F/I, Etc)

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I'll probably just keep it where it is for now. I have a Pedal Commander on the way so i'm hoping that gives a better driving experience and perceived feel of power due to the faster throttle response.

Your 2013 has secondary air injection. If you start throwing headers on there you're going to get a check engine light

What about simply upgrading the fuel injectors? I'm trying to look for cost efficient mods that wont' break the bank right now, but would also be worthwhile.

Unless you go forced induction or internal engine mods, there isn’t much you are going to gain.

I’d personally go with a tune if I were not going the above route.
Lots of guys have good things to say about a good quality tune.

Not unless he gets Doug Thorley or JBA headers made specific for the 2012-2015.

OP. The must have mods are: A supercharger.

A buddy of mine that I work with told me the same thing today. Is it worth doing a tune on a basically stock engine with the exception of the CAI? What could I expect from just the tune?

Do a quick search on the member JustDSM - @JustDSM

This is for a 6-speed truck. But I’ve heard he does “magic” with the Autos as well.

Don’t get a CAI it’s not a real power gain. These engines don’t make the amount you’d want unless you go supercharger. For a little more realistic power OVtune and call it a day. If you want a “CAI” check out the cowl induction mod. Cheap and works well as a more forced induction and “snorkel” intake
