I'm a former Tacoma owner..regrettable as it is but the worst mistake I made was selling my 2013 off road for a 2016 sport. the engine and transmission of 2nd gen is far superior in my humble opinion. I got rid of the 16 as a cost cutting measure due to having close to 16k in equity but I can't wait to get back into a tacoma. i simply refuse to make the same mistake with what I know to be an inferior truck. I certainly hope that Tacoma keeps the exterior but brings back the 4.0

Not gonna happen (bringing back the 4.0). That drivetrain is gone with the past, although the next gen will have something different it won't be the 4.0 again that you know and love.

And the next generation of Tacoma won't be until ~ 2026 or thereabouts, given that each generation has lasted roughly a decade.

If you really want the 4.0 again, I'd look for a low mileage 2015 Tacoma or a 4runner since it still uses the 4.0l (for now).

No, there has been no news.

And I don't think you think that opinion is humble at all.

what is the point of these posts lmao. Can we just create a "3rd gen Griefers" sticky or something...the people who didn't testdrive properly shouldn't be able to bombard the 3rd gen forum imo.

The '19s are literally just off the press so there'd be no possible way of knowing a complete overhaul unless you are really plugged into toyotas long term planning. If word got out that a redesign was coming right when they release the '19s their sales would be a complete disaster.

Wish I could shrink the third down to first gen size. Would look so cool.
