Hi, Colorado TW crew. I posted a few weeks back in the CO BS thread regarding some trip planning. I'll be in the Denver area at the end of this week and want to go exploring, keeping it to day-trips, and will have my best friend's 3rd gen Tacoma TRD Off Road (truck has a small lift and KO2s) to drive.

Been perusing the forums here and other sites (AllTrails, TrailsOffRoad, etc.) but am having a hard time discerning what's a) open this time of year, and b) fun and scenic trail that won't push the truck too hard since we'll be by ourselves. Looking at the following trails:
    -Switzerland Trail
    -Moffat / Rollins Pass
    -Oh My God Road
    -Bright Trail / Taylor Mountain

Any thoughts on if these are accessible this time of year, or if they're safe for us to explore, would be much appreciated. Obviously would also be willing to look into others should they be better suited to seeing good sights but not beating up the truck too much. Thanks!

Would obviously prefer to avoid it if possible. Snow was my big question when I posted in the CO BS thread and general consensus was either I'll be SOL or they may be fine depending on if there's been enough melt...

Switzerland Trail is open and passable. Did it mostly in 4HI with a few spots of 4LO. No trouble whatsoever. Gorgeous trail!

I'm surprised no one weighed in on this one yet. It's not a trail, it's a graded road. Anyone can drive it. So, don't drive it because it'll be a "trail" challenge. It's still a nice drive with a little bit of mining history along the way. It connects three old mining towns together: Idaho Springs (nice restaurants, brewery, cidery, and some mining history activities), Russell Gulch (feels like a ghost town but there are still people there, and a disc golf course; I personally like the cemetery, but I'm weird like that), and Central City (primarily casinos now, and most of the old buildings remain so it's nice to check out).
