Ouch. My buddy rear ended an 18-wheeler in his Tacoma about a month ago. He fortunately wasn't hurt but totalled his truck.

What are you gonna do if insurance totals it? Buy it back?

Idk. Of it gets totaled then I'll buy a new 4Runner or Tundra. But I hope it's not totaled.

So do I get my insurance to deal with it or the other guys insurance to deal with it? Which way is better for me?

I would get yours to go after them. I got T-Boned once and their insurance wasn't doing anything so they didn't have to pay out. So I contacted mine, and they chased them down and did their own investigation of the accident, looked at screech marks, and even made a drawing for the other insurance. My insurance didn't want me to claim it because they'd have to pay out themselves, and I have to have the rear axle and mounts replaced.

Edit: This was a different truck, BTW

That's only if they claim it a "no fault" or "your fault" accident. If it is deemed that they are responsible, then you won't have to pay any deductible on your insurance.

Hmm. Yeah the guy in the red dodge got a citation so there's no way they can say it was my fault.

Ya, otherwise it might take a while. I had a spare vehicle to drive while I let insurance bash it out. I could've done the same. Basically, you claim it on your insurance as a last resort and to get things moving, then if they determine it wasn't your fault, the other guy's insurance will reimburse everyone. But mine took a couple of months.

Yeah I have my work car but I need my truck to get fixed soon. My wife will be gone all next week so I won't need my truck.

Got my reverse light hooked up today. I just used some spare parts. I have it hooked into about 20' of retractable lead so it makes a great work light. Has w magnet to keep it where you set it

Thanks. It's pretty handy but I think my toolbox hates me. I've had it maybe a week and already cut out one side and drilled holes in two other sides
