Hey all - looking to get an aluminum SOS bumper rhino-lined or Line-X'd. Not wanting to PC. Anyone had this done in the Tulsa area and have recommendations? Preference between Rhino and Line-X?

Just a question but why take am aluminum bumper and add a good bit of weight to it with line-x or rhino line?

I don't really think it's going to add that much weight, will it? And I think that the difference between PC and Rhino line is going to be pretty minimal too. I don't want to keep it bare metal, after having it bare metal for about 5 months I am pretty certain I want it black. So knowing that I'm going to do something to it, I'd rather have the Rhino/Line-X option since it will hold up better than just a PC, you know?

I imagine it would probably add about 10-15lbs. Think of the weight of a paint gallon. Maybe 10lbs? With how thick that stuff applies, I'd think you would need about 2 cans to do the job. Factor in some water evap, and I'd think 10-15lbs would be reasonable.

Versus a single rattle can which would add <1lb.

2 cans to coat just a front bumper? That seems excessive but if it were that much, you're about right on weight. But the bumper itself is pretty light so I'm not too worried about a little extra weight up front. You're still well under anything that would require upgrading the suspension on the front (that's coming once I pull the trigger on a lift system.....)

My first bumper I primed it and sprayed it black with a rattle can. Held up for 4 years before it had its way with a Dodge 3500.

My sliders are rattle canned. Definitely didn't hold up that long, but I don't think anything would after being drug across the ground with the weight of the truck. But that's why I went with a spray can. Easy/cheap touchup. Powder coat lasts long if it never gets touched.

Thinking about plastic-dipping my stock rims, ideas on how many cans I'll need? And recommendations on prep work (i.e. how far in to tape off).

I used almost a can on each wheel. Take your wheels off the truck for best coverage.

Anyone been out to Clayton on the K-trail? Thinking about taking the family down there when it gets cooler for trails and camping. Never been - but looks nice. Not looking for extreme trails since my truck is stock. Also would be interested in trails outside of Tulsa to meet-up.

Expect a ton of pin stripes on your new truck. @frizbal and @rutacoma made a trip out there a few weeks ago.

Nice thing about super-white it's single stage and buffs out nicely. But ya, I'd like to enjoy the new smell a little longer. :)
