Anyone been up to the Gruber ORV park? Or the Cherokee WMA near it? Looks like both would be fun day trips.

IMO Gruber is better suited to bikes and atvs.

Fair enough. Seen some jeeps and the like on their trails in online pics, so I was curious.
Saw a video about "Cherokee Country" with some decent trails, looks to be in the WMA nearby. Really interested in that one.

The WMA has some good roads but make sure it's open before you go. Sometimes the gates are locked depending on the season.

Understood. Already been eyeing up a couple WMAs and their regs for places to do some dispersed camping.

Check out James Collins. It's kind of a maze of roads that's kind fun to drive. And it backs up to Robbers Cave wma so theres a lot of places to explore. Not sure about camping on the wmas tho...but...I rarely see a game ranger out there in the off seasons anyway.

Live close by, not a lot of really rough terrain but a fun place to explore, lot of deer, turkeys, and wild hogs.

Nice gun range if you shoot, do have to have a fishing or hunting license to be in area but never have been checked.

I was not aware the Cherokee WMA had a range. I usually go to the one in Okmulgee but that one looks nicer and about the same distance for me. Thanks.

That looks REALLY nice. It's an uncontrolled range? Any regs regarding how fast you can shoot? Only one half-decent public outdoor range over here and it's FUDD rules. I've got a case of 556 to burn through, and it's boring AF when you're restricted to "one shot every 2 seconds".

Oh, and yes if you go to the Okmulgee range get ready to show the ranger your HL.

No rule as far as I know. I do rapid fire at Okmulgee. There is no one to monitor. It's up to the individuals to shoot safely.

I do not know for sure actually haven’t used it, I don’t shoot a lot and I can at my house. I will drive by and read the posted rules and let you know.

Did a quick trip to Cherokee PHA yesterday. What a nice range! Wife and I had a good time being able to shoot without ridiculous FUDD rules (Banner Road range, I'm lookin' at you!).
Trails were lots of fun. The handful of "water crossings" were very low, didn't even crest the bottom of my rim most of the time. Surprisingly ran into about 3 other trucks on the trails. Kind of an active area. Was worth the 2+ hour drive and very much looking forward to going back. I'm going to have to invest in a real GPS, though. No cell signal and the published maps don't seem to account for the trails, just the gravel roads.

    Stock flex pic!
