Who owns a firearm? Im thinking of buying a handgun when I get my taxes back but im stuck between a Glock 19 and some type of 1911. The price difference is pretty big between the two so im leaning more towards the glock. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Depends on what you want to do with it.

Go down to H&H and rent a bunch of different pistols in different calibers and see which ones you like best and can handle best. Personally, I'm a 1911 guy.

This. Let them know you are military, range fees are dirt cheap (like $5 for unlimited amount of time). Not sure what their gun rental prices are though.

Hopefully I can get down there this weekend, want to see if these new magazines work for my .22LR. There were mixed reviews on jamming but I took a chance.

I'm sitting pretty on about 3000 rounds of .22, I don't shoot it much. But it makes a good bartering tool. Just traded a box of 50 for a chick fila meal.

I could use some .223 ammo... I only have 250 rounds of that.

.45 ammo went through the roof... The brick of 100 at the BX is now almost $42, I use to be able to get it at Walmart for $25. I didn't mind shooting my colt then, just to expensive to shoot often.

I do have a glock, I just never liked them. I have a colt lightweight commander .45, like a 1911, but an inch shorter barrel and an aluminum frame. I like it, just pricy to shoot. My carry gun is a Taurus 856 38 special, wouldn't buy another Taurus again, I had to send it back to the factory twice for warranty work. The barrel cylinder alignment was off, it was actually shaving little brass rings off the ends of the rounds. I have a beretta 21a bobcat in a .25, it's a nice compact auto, same size as the rugar LCR's. real small. Then an old H&R .22lr revolver and a .22 derringer.

Instead of a glock, look at the Springfield XD-M's. they took flocks design and just made it better. BX had a couple of them in stock, and they get new ones in regularly.

There is a .338 barrett rifle over there for 6k... They sold two of them this week already... You should buy that one

Adam, me and the wife are going to go to gun worlds range this weekend. I'm kinda sick of H&H. I had to wait almost two hours last weekend to shoot. And I've been trying to work with my wife to help her shoot better, and there is always some ass in th next lane with an AR and a shotgun... Hard to keep my wife focused..

Anyway, if you want to try out my .45 let me know.

Thanks for all the help every one, Andrew I might have to take you up on your offer. I have been looking at the Colt Commander and Colt Defender/ New Agent I was also looking into the Kimber Pro Carry last night. As for the Glock I found out yesterday about there blue label program that offers military and LEO discounts so I will most likely go that rout with the Glock 19 for now since I can get one for about $400.

I have a couple friends that own different Glocks and 1911's so I'm going to go to the range with them to try them out. They go to Sgt. Everett's in Norman and they say it is much better than H&H and that it is never crowded but they do not have all the luxuries of H&H like the automatic target reels.

don't recommend buying from gun world though...their prices seem VERY marked up. haven't tried their range yet though.

the restaurant in there is pretty good. I like it because it's $5 for military to shoot with no time limit. might just try gun world this weekend. one of my guys at work wants to go and I'll probably drag my neighbor along as well.

been out to Canadian Ranges? bit of a drive but it's an outdoor range.

No, they have a "shooting area" I heard there's like a refrigerator and just trash people shoot at, but you need a hunting license to shot there.

Moore, OK here. The springfield xdm is an awesome gun and I feel shoots way better than the glock. But the HK p30L is my favorite but the price tag nears 1000 dollars!

I shot at H&H this weekend and waited over an hour to shoot. I spent every morning last week looking for .223 and 9mm ammo just to go.

Welcome Dustin what command are you at?
I've held both the XD9 and the G 19 and I like the 19 a little better but I have not shot either of them.
What does your truck look like?
