I just received a set yesterday. They look nice but unfinished, brushed aluminum isn't going to last very long.
I'm thinking they need some protection.
    Thoughts?

FluidFilm is pretty amazing stuff. My Fox shocks rotted pretty bad from road salt, but after cleaning them up (took a lot of effort) and painting what I could, I coated the threads on the coilovers with FluidFilm and those spots are still in the best shape of anything. I literally just adjusted them last night and the collars moved easily on the threads.

So yeah, I vote that you spray FluidFilm on the shocks once every year or two and call it good.

Just fluid film it. People have ceracoated their Kings before though, so you could always look at that option. Gets pricey cuz you have to disassemble the bodies to do it though.

These shocks are brand new still in the box. I figured this is the time to do it if at all.
If I pull the boots back, will the fluid film attack the shaft seal?
Edit: got the Icon AALs delivered today. PSYCHE!

I have (unbooted) Kings, but I doused those things haphazardly, and haven't had an issue

Cool. I'll just use a brush. Hopefully I can get this done by myself this weekend.
Cash poor atm otherwise I'd have new top hats and the coilovers would be assembled already.
