I sprayed my frame with bedliner coating. It works great. Stays applied and looks 10x better than undercoat. I used the bedliner available in rattle cans from your local parts store or good old Amazon.

Yeah, I bought my truck used at 90,xxx miles. So the miles before I owned it was not protected as good I if I was taking care of it. I will be sure to be spraying it down well with oil/ or fluid film before winter. I plan on only using this truck mostly in summer/ fall time, and keep it off the road in winter. Just trying to keep the frame from rusting any worse than it is right now.

I have also used the rattle can bed liner on my frames for years. Never an issue and holds up better than paint or undercoating

First year I used rattle cans. I bought a box (12 cans of 13.5 oz each)

I used about three an half cans on my Tacoma plus some more on places I was finding later (some bolts and nuts and inside bumpers) https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...k-or-rysium-build.457350/page-3#post-14872848

But I figured out, it will be much cheaper to buy a spray gun and fluid film by gallons.

I found this spray gun was easier to work with than a rattle can as I could get to some places where the rattle can can't reach. First I pressure wash (warm water with soap) the whole "under" (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...k-or-rysium-build.457350/page-5#post-17585261) then applied fluid film generously (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...k-or-rysium-build.457350/page-5#post-17591430)

Fluid film by gallons is about twice cheaper than rattle can and because I have to deal with two trucks (my Tacoma and my 4Runner) the return of investment in a spray gun is much faster. I still use rattle cans for "touch up" - places I missed or places I found later with rust on it.

I used POR-15 for the external frame, crossmembers , gas tank skid and Rust encapsulator from Eastwood to spray the inside of the frame. Both products and expensive and the prep work is lengthy and mind numbing but I wouldn’t change it. Definitely worth doing.

I’m thinking about going this route. At the moment I just have some surface rust and live in CA. I figure as long as I do it in a year or so I should be well ahead of the rust.

i would suggest sticking to products that are meant for rust prevention. I'm still going to try a combo of chassis saver and fluid film.

It’s worth it but don’t half way do it like some me of the videos I’ve seen. Follow the instructions, take your time and you’ll be glad you did.

Looks great! How much did you get? And how does POR-15 go on? I wasn't sure if it's a spray or roll on.

i think if you want to spray por15 you have to thin it out or else it'll clog the gun.

    This.

Line-X is pretty thick, and would likely cause fitment issues with the various widgets, wires, and tubes that are bolted to the frame.

You'd also need to be 100% you don't have ANY rust before you start, since all you'd be doing is covering up the rust. That'd be true with powder coating, too, though...

I don’t have any experience spraying it on but POR-15 is really thin and runny, I can’t imagine thinning it out.

I used a gallon and that covered the frame, gas tank skid on both sides, cross members, bottom of rock sliders, myself and the garage floor and still have some left over. Here I am going to work.

I meant to say that it covered everything with a minimum of 2 costs and some I gave 3 costs.

Did you use their prep and degreaser before you did it?

Hm, some chevy guy say's its not good to spray on por 15, it gunks up the gun and if you don't clean it immediately that gun is gone.
