Lately in the news their has been lots of talk about air bag and problems! So today I was sitting in my 16 Tacoma listening to the radio when I noticed a crease in both sides of my stearing wheel air bag.Im gonna bring my truck in for a oil change and a look over because its a year old. I still only have 3500 miles on it. I'm hoping I don't have to worry about this baby blowing up in my face . I had one go off in my face before it was no fun :anonymous:(chevy&accident) I'm gonna have to post them from my phone the pictures give me a moment to go to my phone .

maybe dumb question, but how can you see a crease? isn't it tucked underneath the plastic/rubber housing?

oh boy. this site makes my head hurt. 1. takata recall is not for them blowing up in peoples faces. 2. your truck does not have recalled takata airbags. 3. that crease is in all 10+3rd gen tacomas ive sat in and in no way means the airbag is part deflated and waiting to take out your face:crazy::help:

and 4. you use an example of what an airbag is supposed to do as what you hope isnt going to happen? if i had an airbag blowup in my face because i wrecked, i dont think id hold it against all airbags. just saying

I don't think he means an actual crease.

At the plastic/rubber housing, cover of the airbag, below the Toyota logo, you can actually see an imprint of the airbag if you pay close attention.

I noticed this the other day as well.

If this is correct, I apologize for antagonizing oneshort.

This is a type of sinkmark line where the plastic is thinner due to the poor thermocooling when the injection process is done to produce the "tear line", which is slightly visible sometimes. Not sure if this is what you're talking about.

That's the only part we seem to notice. That's part of the design.

If you stare at yourself in the mirror oneshort, you'll notice it on your face too. :)

Exactly, the crease you see @oneshort is where it's designed to seperate in the event of an airbag deployment. This is so you don't have the plastic randomly tearing and potentially causing further injuries.

Unless someone pointed that out to me I doubt I'd ever notice the lines. But now that I've seen them.....

My '14 Tundra, wifes 5th gen 4runner, our other 05+ Toyotas all have those lines. It's part of the design, it's the relief lines where the cover tears open when the airbags are set off.
