No I haven't yet. I have been watching their website though daily to see if they have the model/package/color I am looking for though. They just haven't had what I am looking for in stock. If I see it I am calling down there.

Call them...they can get one for you. At least they did that for the friend I referred.

There can be a big difference in deals based on geography. My brother saved over $3000 by buying his Tacoma in Birmingham where my mom lived over buying it at home in Colorado. Did the entire deal over the phone. There is a bit of extra work in registering the car in your home state and dealing with taxes. Make sure you know your state laws on buying a car out of state.

NADA retail or trade in value? Used Tacoma's selling like hotcakes in these parts. I sold an '07 with 150k miles two months ago for $500 more than NADA retail value 30 minutes after I posted it on craigslist.

Just have him show you the invoice, there isn't much to fudge on the invoice and it would make no sense for them to lie about the MSRP since you get to keep the window sticker. Some dealers add a separate addendum to the MSRP window sticker with dealer market value adjustments, clear bras, tints, etc. but the original Toyota MSRP won't change. You can build your own on Edmunds to get an approximate invoice price but it won't show the TDA regional advertising fee. Here is a similar Limited 4x4 invoice:

There isn't much mark-up in the Tacoma so if you can get within $200-$500 of invoice it is a good deal. Especially if they have what you want in stock and you don't have to wait 3 months...

Go with 4x4 if you are concerned about re-sale. 4x4 models hold their value much better, worth the small investment up front. Any Tacoma holds its value well, but a 4x4 double cab V6 AT is probably the best vehicle out there in terms of resale value. Plus 4WD adds more functionality to the truck in winter/off-road with minimal MPG impact.

Clean trade in value. The difference between a new Limited and my 09 was $19K.

Around here Tacoma's are in such high demand they are going well above book value, but no dealer is going to give anywhere near that for trade. Not a bad deal at all, especially considering the crazy people you have to deal with private party it is totally worth it. I sell vehicles on craigslist for my work using my work phone and email, but I won't deal with that for my personal vehicles I just trade them in. It is much easier and you save the sales tax on the trade value (only paying tax on the net difference between the new vehicle and trade) at least where I live.
