It does improve... I added to my OR (had on my previous SR5) because I put some serious highway miles on pretty regularly. It makes ~1MPG. Which may mean nothing to those doing city. But it certainly does when you burn through several tanks in a row on Highway.

EDIT: I should add that I also did it for increased downforce/sway stability as well.

I really don't mind it from the front and the mileage adjustment is definitely worth it especially considering the trails I find here aren't rocky, they're mainly just mud (not thick unless I do mud bogging...which I don't), roots, and rough dirt. That being said I cannot stand looking at it from the side. I think it looks ridiculous. Form or function.. hmm

Nice looking truck, but I have to call BS on that air dam giving any significant fuel mileage gains. I just don't buy it.

I agree. As @shakerhood already mentioned, toyota posts same mpgs for sport and OR. MT will be a bit different tho. Dont see how a 5" piece of plastic will help. I removed mine after few months of purchasing my truck and noticed no difference. I get 19 mpgs combined, which i think is fantastic for 4600 pound truck with e rated all terrain tires and 4.3 rear end.

I don't see the point! :hattip:

Why didn't you just get a Sport instead of the Off-Road

1 MPG wont make much difference but this gets at least 40mpg more than my truck. so riding it to work half the time amount to huge savings!

I certainly wouldn’t call 1 mpg significant but there is a difference.

To me, from the side, it looks like it had its chin kicked in.

I liked the capabilities of the OR, ‘just in case’ I needed them. Probably like most folks on TW. Why does every mall-crawling Jeep have a winch, gas cans and billion lights attached?

I have an SR and removed the chin-strap/air-dam/mustache. I have NOT noticed a difference in MPG's, however at high speed (80 mph) it feels more prone to aerodynamic instability and affected by gusts of wind. I plasti-dipped my tiny skid plate white and with the air dam removed I think it gives it a nice look but to each their own damn dam preference.

Crazy. I think it's hideous. MPG delta would have to be astronomical for me to put it on...probably 10+ if not more.
