    Maybe a dumb question but what are stakes?

    Put some on your truck and post pictures. You'll be the only person with them.

    How would you secure them?

    I mean, some full size pickups still have those holes in the bedrails.. if that's what we're talking about.

    @fishcommander

    Are you thinking about adding stakes to your Tacoma?

    What is the reason?

    I remembered this post - there are some threaded holes in each side of the bed, probably something could be rigged up, just not sure how safe/ structural it would be.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/0210-crawls-starbucks.447505/page-13#post-14863990
    The second thing I noticed is that each bedside has three groups of two threaded holes (6 holes per bedside) that are unused and hidden by the bed cover. These should be great attachment points for replacement metal bedside covers!

    apparently not a majority of you have been on a farm. i'm sorry. let me restart this; i haul some loads that extend above my bedrails. rails to secure the load or to tie & secure to would be in order. i mean, hasn't Any tacoma owners done this for larger loads??

    The Tacoma is a fantastic truck, but I don’t think it’s the best truck for a farm. The bed rails don’t have stake holes, so you’d have to cut it. Not sure what that would even do to the composite bed.

    I think a full size is better for just about any farm application where stakes would be needed.

    Wouldn't a trailer be better for those types of loads? Lower load height, and many with high sides if you need them... Just my $.02 worth...

    Ya, I don't think the composite bed would support the weight of the risers over any off-road/rough terrain. My work trucks all have headache racks, and without supporting them properly (resting on bed rails) we crack steel bed sides constantly.

    I would vote for either a trailer, or a flat bed with stake pockets. Flat bed would be my first choice. Same cost as a decent sized utility trailer, plus nothing to drag around that would year up your field.

    Ahh, that's perfect. The weight of the uprights is put on the floor of the bed....

    This thread is so TW.... OP asks about stakes. half of respondents don't even know what the hell stakes are. Some folks then even suggest that Tacoma are not great farm trucks (sorry, wtf do you know about farms?) and some respond with a "steak truck" picture, some even say the Tacoma can't handle stakes cause it's doesn't have holes (ummm, I think that's why the OP is asking, are there any creative workarounds?).

    TW is a hot mess, and I love it.
