Anyone have problems with local Uhaul installing hitch & Wiring to 4cly?
Several months ago quoted $475 plus tax total hitch/wiring (betting not less now).
    Was class 4.

" E trailer " has hitches for $168.. takes 20 to 30 mins tops..just bolt on install..they even make install videos..free shipping too.. they also make clip in wiring harnesses..super easy install.. cost about half what Uhaul wants..plus it would be of higher quality or tow capacity..everyone buys from " E trailer.com " even if you couldn't install it a local mechanic could install both in a hour of labor..

Plus 1 for etrailer their wiring harness is worth every penny. I just ordered a hitch from them price was right and how can you beat free shipping.

Definitely don’t go to U-Haul. They installed the hitch on my last truck (bought used, PO had U-Haul do it) and they screwed the frame threads hard. I pulled that hitch off to put on my OEM one I removed from my truck before it (both frontiers) and half the bolts came out missing chunks of threads. The frame weld nuts were all screwed up which meant I could never safely tow with that truck. That’s half the reason I sold it.

They also wired up a very crappy harness into my factory tail lights using vampire clips that fell apart and caused a short. All around crap work. The wiring I could fix, but I can’t fix stripped frame weld nuts. Tacoma is a bit different in design but not worth risking those guys working on the truck.

I went with the 4 wiring as will not pull much over 2000 lbs. If larger needed have 4Runner.
etrailer.com for hitch and wiring at half (real close to half) to Toyota or UHaul.
Had master tech friend put on for $100 so all really good and after BLtheP told his story i feel much safer.
the only down side was running the fishing wire for bolt and silver deal to study bolt. That was a bear. thanks guys for the input
