More to come!
Getting my lift kit on my 15 double cab done today. Putting 5100's all the way around with OME 884's up front and Icon progressive AAL in back with the factory overload kept in. Just got a call from the dealer and they wanted to advise me that they've had issues with humming noises and vibrations from the differential and drive shaft with 3"lift kits. Where mine is only 2" will this still be a problem? Anyone out there have this set up and experienced any issues?

Just got a call saying they can't mount the 884's onto the 5100's because it's making the spring bow in the middle??? Anyway, going with 5100's set at 1.75" and stock coils. Hopefully I'll like it!

Sounds like the 5100's are not at the zero setting or the spring perch is upside down

5100s front at 2.5" with Moog replacement springs, 5100s in rear with 2" Wheeler's AAL
You shouldnt have problems if they put the 5100s on the 0 no lift setting. And the diff vibration can happen at any amount of lift. Search ECGS Bushing. Happens to 1st and 2nd gens.. Mine went with 2.5" front lift. Not hard to replace. Pull CV and pull bearing/replace. Only driver side.

Tacomas with no lift at all have vibration issues

But seriously, any change you make to any drive line angles could cause a vibration. One inch, two inches, three inches - or even do nothing.

For the front as someone already pointed out it is often the driver side bearing for the CV that is the culprit. ECGS has an inexpensive solution if that occurs. The likelihood of having a problem does seem proportional to how much lift you do, but restricting yourself to 2" or any other number is no guarantee you won't have a problem.

For the rear some combination of shims to alter the rear diff angle or carrier bearing drop to change the two piece drive shaft angles will usually fix any vibrations that show up. It can be a hassle to get right and so if this happens it is best to measure drive line angles directly and plan a solution rather than just willy nilly trying out various drops and shims.

Lastly for the rear "take off" vibrations (vibration when accelerating quickly) is usually due to axle wrap changing the diff angle enough that drive line vibrations become a problem during the acceleration. In some cases just changing the drive line angles (again axle shims or carrier drop) will get you to a point that you don't have vibes either at constant velocity or when accelerating. In extreme cases the issue is just too much axle wrap and you must fix that problem - but this shouldn't be an issue for you with just an add-a-leaf. It is a big problem if you do lift blocks (spacers) the way really high lifts or mall crawlers might.

I am calling BS on the dealer saying the 884s were bowing. I have 5100's with 884s and didnt have an issue when they were installed. Runs fine, no hums, etc. Best thing I ever did for my truck.

Got it from the dealer and they were able to get the 884's on after all. They didn't think they'd be able to leave the factory overload in either but they were able to as well. Put about 50 miles on it since I picked it up and love it! No vibrations, and the only noise I hear besides the stereo are the Nitto terra grapplers humming down the road. Very happy with it but next time I'll take it to a garage that specializes in suspension and not a dealer that only does this sort of thing on occasion.

About 2" total all the way around with just a slight amount of rake, which is what I wanted. Recently though I have noticed I do have a mild popping sound coming from my front when I turn the wheel sharply to park or turn onto a side street. Looking into it today perhaps something has come loose. Otherwise very happy with the looks and the ride!

Awesome lift, I'm looking to do the same exact spec as yourself. How much did the dealer charge you for the install by the way? I'm looking at $600 including alignment

Mine came to right around $600 with the alignment. It was there for about 9 hours total but I was only charged for 6. They have always been fair and as honest as you can expect with their billing. Overall I'm happy with everything.

I love the ride. I find it to be much better than stock.
