I'm considering putting a trd blower on my 2010 4.0. I have a set of DT LT's on my 06 that I would consider swapping over if there are noticeable gains from doing so. They were such a pita to install I'm not real eager if the gains are just minimal and I also have to get a smaller pulley and higher flow injectors just to have 6lbs of boost.

Anyone with a trd blower do any dyno pulls with/without LT's that can verify gains?

I don't know a whole lot about Tacoma's but, coming from the tuner world, at 6psi for the blower, i highly doubt you'll need new injectors. Again, I may be wrong but, from my experience. Also, on a side note, I'm curious to see what guys are pulling with the TRD Blower.

talk to TORSPD he's usually all over this stuff. if at all you see gains with headers, it's with forced induction. I know you can tune to get a noticeable gain.

high flow injectors are recommended, not required, whenever running a supercharger. you might have to slam on it one day and the injectors won't be able to keep up, running a lean mixture. no bueno.

and check into the URD 2.2 pulley. heard that was a nice upgrade as well.

I've had a few sets of used headers that were very difficult to install, even on the same engine. The repeated heat cycles tend to warp them, and very few mounting flanges are anywhere near flat when the are removed from the engine.

I've only had the headers on the other truck for a month so I'm hoping there is no warpage. My expereince with full size Chevys has always been positive with headers and an SC, just not sure with the tacos.

I wouldn't think 6psi would require new injectors either with my prior expereince, but the trd blower apparantly comes with higher capacity ones and I think they put out 5-6lbs boost. I don't think the 2.2 is the one I'd be using, I think it would be like a 2.8 or 2.7. Thanks!

One of my pet peeves is when folks don't report back, so...

I put the TRD SC on my 2010 truck, along with a URDU 2 size smaller pulley. In addition I found a deal on a TRD catback and I did swap the DT headers over from my 06.

According to the scan gauges I have, on a 55-60 degree day this thing is making 362 hp. I have yet to have it to the 1/4 mile to check trap speed and verify, but it's quite an improvement over stock!!!

As a side note...everything being equal, when driving it like a "normal" person it would actually get .5 mpg better than stock. Once I raised it 1.5 inches, that all changed and I dropped about 1.5 mpg.

That's a lot of power wow. Get a tune to make sure the fuel map is right for your application. Like max mpg or max power. And def should see if it ever runs lean. That overtime will cause issues with any motor.

I always laugh at the Scangauge readout..... It says I have 392

I'm pushing 8lbs to 8.5 with my mods..... No need for injectors yet.

What size pulley did u go with?

I used the 2.85 URD pulley to simplify the install as well as avoid needing additional fueling or lean conditions.

I am using 2 aero force gauges and one side is set up to read boost/af and the other reads mpg/hp. The readings as I understand it are provided by the Toyota computer via the obd port the gauges hook up to, with an additional part needed to read the boost.

In Phx on a summer day in the 105+ heat it may only show 6 lbs of boost and 305hp. Get a cool 50 degree night in Feb and that will change to 7+lbs of boost and 360+hp readout. Average in the winter will be 350 and summer 310.

So in answer to my own question concerning headers...yeah, if you are going to make them part of the all around equation on a performance package with forced induction they will certainly help. In my case I'm guessing they with the less restive TRD catback are good for approx 20 hp with the sc on a cool night. Add in the AFE cai i have along with the smaller pulley and again, on a cool night another 30hp to go with the 65hp gains of the sc. I'm basing this off a stock 4.0 being good for about 250hp on the same cool night and good da.
