Had it done at about 11500 miles. Really can't tell any difference except I get like 1-2 mpg better on gas range

I got a '18 about 6 weeks ago 3000km now, I feel the trany hunts for gears sometimes and have had a few hard shifts on the highway, is this a recall or I just go ask them for a transmission flash? Should I wait a little? First time I've heard of this.

By the way I LOVE MY TRUCK!! :)

There still is a dead spot after hitting 4th unless you are moving at good speed. I think it still shifts way too soon into gears 2-4. It would be nice if the TSB held those gears just a tiny bit longer. However, the truck is more willing to downshift and hold that gear on a hill. Much less willing to shift up than pre TSB.

I too had it done, only experience I had was a surge a few tines beteen 40 and 50 but only lasted a few seconds. Mine drove great and I am very happy. Had my 5000 service and the tsb done. Now better gas mileage, smoother shifts and more power. If you don't have it you will not know but if you do then you will know what I'm talking about. Get it done and you too will be impressed. Like I said I didn't really have an issue but it's sure it more fun to drive. It will smoke the tires from a dig!

When I talked to the service manager by me he said what that TSB does is adjust the fuel to air ratio creating a leaner cycle. But who knows....

It's a software update that targets the transmission and how it shifts. I know I have more power from take off when I hit the pedal now. But I have been trying to drive it easy and not like I was 18 again. Lol

It is litterly a night and day difference. If your Tacoma drives great now like mine did, then wait until you the tsb done and report back.

Personally, I like mine the way it is now. My thinking is that the original mapping of the ECU was done for MPG. I would hate to get it done and then lose 1-2 mpg as result. I know some will say their mpg improved but until I see actual before and after mpg data, I'll remain skeptical.

BTW - I would love it if someone proved me wrong.

It would make sense seeing it is recommended for high elevation.

That a false statement. That's the technician making an assumption based on the wording of T-SB 0062-18. This is a new calibration to resolve numerous customer complains and vehicle performance issues. The same calibration is flashed for any of the T-SBs involving the ECU to include 62-18, 58-18 and 77-16.

I've put about 1000 miles on my truck with the new software and its an improvement all around. Since the update, my city mpg is +2mpg and my highway is +1mpg. The throttle now has a much more linear response. This means much less pedal input to achieve desired power and no more throttle input lag. The truck also no longer races to 6th but instead it smoothly chooses the appropriate gear 99% of the time. This results in better fuel efficiency as the truck doesn't lug in 6th then abruptly jump to 3rd or 4th to catch up.

Hopefully, this will be applied to the 2019s before delivery. This calibration is most certainly the way the trucks should have been from day one.

I'll pass on it but if you have it done it's either the greatest thing since the wheel or makes no difference at all and you will either loose or gain 1-2 mpg.:D

No Regrets. I did lose about 1mpg. It used to cruise at 1,300-1,400rpms now it’s around 1,800-1,900rpms. At the pump more often but a happy driver.

Is your VIN listed on one of the T-SBs resolved with the new calibration?
